So what's the scoop on the sandbar? Friends have told me about half of the chicks are topless ........ and the other half naked! Do you guys get to patrol out there?

what a useless post

Useless? Don't you like naked girls? You must be one of "them" from Key West ......

05-01-2007, 05:21 AM
LMAO....one of "Them"... in that case, you must be one of "Those" thick headed perfect example of Good Ole Boy Po Po who just dont get it... Yee Haa...Im a cop so I can look at naked women all day.

Hahaha! Well, you've gotta admit, it'd be a nice fringe benefit. Some of my buds with Hillsborough County loooooove working the Gasparilla event on the water, as the majority of women in boats just can't seem to keep their bikini tops on! They must be buying defective tops.

The second poster needs to lighten up. This is a tough and often thankless job, and some things are ........ well ........... pleasant. So enjoy them! BTW, I still haven't seen anyone address the original poster's question ...

Hey, Im not saying there arent benifits lol. I just hate the mentality some people have. So judgemental, so out of the loop. You must admit, this job is great for alot of reasons, including "eye candy". Its just not right to turn against eachother based on close minded judgements. I have a few friends that are, in his words, one of "them". Its not right for me to not stick up for them. They are great cops, great people.

I've seen forty-eleven luscious bare mammaries out on the sandbar -- while off-duty, of course -- and lots of beautiful bare poopers and hoo-has as well. Nudity is a beautiful thing, especially out on the water! I don't think it falls within our jurisdiction, but if it does I'd be the first one to volunteer to patrol there!

Hey, I don't have anything against our light-in-their-loafers brethren of the opposite sexual orientation ........ hey, that's less competition for us straight dudes. But don't even think about dissing me for appreciating the lovely ladies, especially given the lack of subtlety with which many males pursue other males. I'm willing to live and let live but I'm not going to be shamed for my unabashed heterosexuality! Y'all really need to get a grip!

its a beautiful place to go and work, unfortunately the red-neck locals and cops really make unbearable, nice place to visit but would never live there, too much stuff hidden,it will come out soon......

Do you get a lot of rednecks? I'd have thought people in the Keys would largely be at least somewhat enlightened, or at least free thinkers.

You'd be surprised

Let's hear more about this sandbar! I'll be vacationing in the Keys soon!

Just got back from Islamorada. All I've got to say is WOW!

06-12-2007, 02:55 PM
Surely you brought us back some pictures. Didn't you???

06-19-2007, 04:42 PM
I've fished out of Islamorada many times over the years. Sometimes the crowd on the sandbar is fairly conservative and sometimes it's pretty wild. Many lovely ladies, often in various states of undress. You Keys folks have it made!

what a useless post

lighten up queer

teehee!

Hey, if any of you homos really think this is a useless post, then you really must be homos!

Boobs, especially bare ones, are of paramount importance!

I just want to see some sweet titties! And you "enlightened" or politically correct types (and homos) can whine and posture and do what you will, but red-blooded American (heterosexual) males want to see titties. That's just a fact of life. So when you dutifully do your posts -- when you're not adjusting your Birkenstocks and eating granola or hummus or something -- and excoriate those of us who happen to enjoy the human mammary gland(s) and call us homophobes or whatever the politically correct buzzword is these days .... we'll know where you're coming from.

In fact, at the risk that you actually will, you can just suck my lily-white pee-pee!

Boobies!

Boobies!

Geez!

At the risk of stirring the pot, I would actually like to make a serious inquiry about this sandbar. My wife and I plan to vacation in the Keys soon, will be bringing our boat, and we've both done a bit of research on interesting places to fish, hang out and catch some sun. The sandbar gets some decidedly mixed reviews, with some sources seeming to say it's essentially G-rated with good, clean fun, and others saying it's sometimes X-rated and with lots of creeps and weirdos. I think we're looking for something maybe R-rated, and ideally minus the weirdos and creeps. I get enough of them at work.

We'd appreciate comments from anybody familiar with the area.

Thanks!

Georgia, your information is probably fairly accurate. Depending on when you go, sometimes it's a zoo and the behavior is very risque, and other times it's fairly sedate. Weekends and especially holidays it gets pretty crowded and folks get pretty rowdy.

My wife prefers to sunbathe without a top and sometimes nude, and of course I highly approve. There are probably not very many places in the Keys where that's a problem in a boat. I've never seen topless sunbathing raise any eyebrows on the sandbar, or anywhere else for that matter. On land, that's a different story, although it's fairly common at Holiday Isle, the huge mega-complex in Islamorada near the sandbar, and at many places in Key West.

You can find plenty of your creeps and weirdos in Key West, you'll occasionally see boatloads of naked people and there's actually a clothing-optional bar. I generally don't go to KW except for the fishing, which is outstanding around the small islands just off Fleming Key, where you'll limit on mangrove snapper before you know it. Use sturdy lures because the barracudas will destroy Zara Spooks and the like in short order. There's a little-known boat ramp at the end of Simonton Street that's very handy. You might also try fishing either end of Vaca Cut in Marathon right before dark, because the tarpon will nearly jump in the boat with you.

Be sure and go to the No-Name Pub at some point and try their shrimp pizza. Go to Big Pine and ask for directions because it's hard to find.

I think you'll find the sandbar, and the Keys in general, amenable to R-rated fun. It's generally an open-minded, live and let live sort of place. Post again before you come down. We can arrange to get in touch and I'll give you GPS coordinates for some good fishing and diving spots. Perhaps we'll arrange to hook up for a drink or something.

Have a safe and fun trip, Brother!

I have to say I have been a LEO for ten years, and I have been going to the Keys for &. You guys are so very lucky. I don't know how you manage to do it (survive on the payscale & cost of living) but for those of you who manage to find the way, I am so sure you have to be able to enjoy every second of the magnificant beauty the Keys hold. I am so very enviouos, and as for departmental problems, it is everywhere right now thanks to Charlie Christ, but oh yeah, we are not state, just county. ;) Keep your heads up!! It has got to get better soon. It has been 10 years since Florida Officers recieved a significant pay raise. Somthing has got to give sooner or later, next time PBA chooses to back someone, maybe he will keep his promises! I will keep you all in my prayers!!
