Man arrested for sexual battery on child
PORT CHARLOTTE - Charlotte County Sheriff's Major Crimes detectives arrested a North Port man Thursday on a charge of Capital Sexual Battery on a 4-year-old girl that occurred in her Port Charlotte home.
CCSO received the call at 12:36 p.m. Thursday.
The brother of the 4 year old called his mother to see if it was all right to allow a relative, Wilfredo Ortiz Vega, 56, of 2599 Atwater Dr., North Port, to enter the house. The mother said yes and Vega was allowed in.
A short time later, the boy said Vega and his sister went into her bedroom and he accidentally walked into the bedroom and saw Vega inappropriately touching his sister. Vega begged him not to tell anyone what happened, however, the boy called his parents to report what he saw.
Major Crime's detectives arrived and took Vega to their office for questioning. Vega admitted to what he had done and said he has never done anything like this before to her or any other children.
