They were minding their own business over at DOT when circumstances beyond their control bumped them over to FHP. As was pointed out, they didn't write the job description or set the hours. If they have such a gravy job, then put in for a transfer to CVE. There is already an "us/them" problem between the field and upper management. Do we need another one between people in the field?
I am envious of being able to pull a commercial vehicle without probable cause but I wouldn't want all of the rules, regulation, measuring and weighing that goes with it.
No CVE trooper ask to be here, our application says DOT officer. The Patrol needed us to save your jobs. So let's get it straight . The patrol is nothing but a group of punks who crys about everything. Man up and just leave.
I guess you forgot about the 3% pay cut and whatever else they've got in store for us this next legislative session. I guess if you wanna go pull over a bunch of cars, knock yourself silly. I'm not doing anything more than what is absolutely necessary to finish out the day and get to the house. I could care less about being able to pull over cars without probably cause. I'm not real keen about pulling them over WITH probably cause any more.

We work when MOST of our "customers" work, we deserve the "pay parity" since we now have to do YOUR job as well. The ONLY thing we DONT do is long forms. Think about this idiot, lets say FHP merges with FDOT and FDOT made all you Troopers work CMV stops (and not the FHP version of improperly writting CMV tickets for mud flaps either). They issue you scales and tell you to weigh trucks now, oh yeah its 90 plus degrees outside. Oh, Yeah Idiot, its over 100 degrees under the damn truck when you have to measure their brakes because it "brake safety week". Oh Yeah Idiot, you make less than a FDOT Officer when you merge but are required to do more work. Yeah, thats right not very fair is it? Troopers would be on this forum bitchin up a storm, since mod=st of you do it anyway, over stupid crap.
How about this, I have an Idea....it will never happen, but, lets work together to get EVERY Trooper a pay raise to what WE should ACTUALLY be making. Its pretty sad when there are Senior Troopers, CVE and Road side, making pennies compared to other agencies. So stop coming on here complaining about us CVE guys and gals, we were handed the basket of lemons, we just made lemonaide out of it, OK ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Dont judge us all by some idiot posting on here. The vast majority of troopers are glad you guys are with us now. I enjoy working with all the CVE troopers in my area, they are good guys and want to help out the best they can. Dont believe all the crap you read on this site.
My guess is that only a small percentage of posts here are actually from troopers and the negative posts from troopers are probably from a disgruntled few. Thankfully, the attitudes frequently expressed here are not the ones I have encountered in my travels. When I check LeoAffairs, it is for entertainment not information.
I wish every state employee was making what they are worth and you have a chance to change this in mid-cycle election. CVE trooper did not ask to be troopers but they are here now and doing the best they can. I do not want CVE trooper working crashes. I want them to stick to there mission statement. That is just what you’re beloved governor and legislators want, more and more, for less and less, or the same. The higher ranking personal Colonel, Chiefs, and Captions in Tallahassee and some at the local level in the department who use to be trooper, are trying to save their own jobs by appeasing the governor and legislators and wanting CVE trooper to work crashes and traffic to bring up stats. This is the republican way MORE AND MORE FOR LESS AND LESS. Stop the fighting within the lower levels and see were the real problem is weak leadership that will not stand up to the governor or legislators. They see numbers are down (stats) and moral is down but this is not their concern and they have people waiting in the wings for all of are jobs. When Fish and Wild Life, Fire Marshal Office, The State Attorney Office Investigators and all other state law enforcement start working interstate and road crashes that went I will expect CMV troopers work crashes. Hell there is Sheriff Department who have traffic unit that don’t even work crashes. But for now that is my job and if people have to wait for and hour or two so be it.
I hate to tell you, but the CVE troopers do have greater qualifications. They have a larger skill set then most of the Troopers. Learning to work crashes is not that hard, after all, it is covered in basic recruit for all police officers. I do not remember basic recruit teaching anyone about CVE stuff. Just saying.
