I had my own reasons for leaving the FWC. I came to realize that the job is what you make of it. I enjoyed working for the FWC. There were issues with my supervisor(s), and there was always "talk of a raise". There are issues with any job. However, I realized early on that the leadership in Tallahassee only care about a pay raise to the extent that it does not affect their perception with legislators, personal reputation in the agency, and career. If you (the posters) do not like the job then go do something else. There are lots of careers out there that would recognize the skills you have obtained from FWC. I know this because I did it. It is funny and sad to read this forum. I hope everybody on here can get along and maybe make a positive decision about their future with FWC.

You want to see something SAD, check out the news in South Florida and see the fire dept.s and the local and Federal L.E.s do FWC's work on a regular basis. Than watch Discovery, History, or any other TV program and - guess what, you will see others handle FWC calls and issues. Now that is sad!

Um...hhhmmm ... NO ! Other agencies perform water rescues and check vessels for smugglers. But no one in the State of Florida protects Florida's vital natural resources.
Especially now that DEP and the AG Forest Cops are all FWC. Protecting Florida's lands and waters is all FWC . Lock stock and gator. We own it.

Do you wish to bet ? I just watched a blow by blow helo filmed story with up-dates of a gator blocking Bird Rd. in Miami with Metro PD handling. It rocked on for over an hour with no FWC to be seen. Now I did see a story complete with "trophy" pics with officer of a snail arrest in the Keys. Snails ??? are you feakin kidding me? What's next , crickets ? What a joke.

You are just showing your ignorance. Thousands of silly pea brained gators are removed from the roads of Florida . Must have been a real slow news day in Metro to waste chopper fuel. On the other hand. Exotics like snails ( Giant African and Brown Garden ) and reptiles can cause huge damage to Florida native environment and agriculture. Good bust by FWC and silly news coverage of the gator. And if an FWC Officer was available and on scene , Metro COPs would have been thrilled to give them the gator call. Can't be everywhere.

Most Sheriffs Office in Florida with any size have Marine enforcement, Waterborne Response Teams, Agriculture Units. Dont kid yourself . Your not the lone ranger you think you are. There is also US Fish and Wildlife and US Coast Guard. However if you want think your the best and all the best since sliced bread. knock your socks off. Whatever floats your boat Forrest.

Get your story straight, GFC took Fmp over! Who was in charge during and after the merger. Where did all the top brass come from? That's right GFC! We are FWC now it is what it is. I have way more whimpering and whining from the salt water side then I ever did from the other side!

Maybe now, but when we first merged, it was mostly GFC it was plain and simple. Most of them have since retired. I don't know why I even started replying to you, other than to get the story straight. We are FWC now, I have accepted that, have you?
