What's the deal with them painting the center caps black on supervisor cars? Any reason to that, or just to waste time and money because their bored? I honestly think the people who should be "awarded" the new cars are the traffic unit and patrol officers who are out running calls back to back, not to sit it in a parking lot while you go ride your bike. Then again, I wouldn't call it be "awarded", because I'd prefer a pristine Vic anyday rather than seeing my 'new' Charger on a gator truck every other day

Traffic already has new and newer cars. Why would they need the new ones. Oh I know to get to the traffic crash real fast they won't work.
Re: CHARGERS
GunLEO1, did you just say that "most of them don't know how to drive or take care of them, and if they treat the Charger's like they do the Vic's, their new permanent home will be at the barn, because they'll break within the first 5,000 miles." and then later went on to say " I'd prefer a pristine Vic anyday rather than seeing my 'new' Charger on a gator truck every other day" So you don't know how to drive or take care of a car?
Re: CHARGERSI was referring to the quality of Chargers vs Vic's. I apologize for the confusion or if I offended.
Re: CHARGERSHere's my theory for what it's worth. I don't care what specialty or road unit you are, there is no consistency or fairness at all within this agency. LT. Salaam, if you do happen to read this I hope it sheds just an inkling of light. If your next in line for a car, you should get one hands down no questions asked. I know a handful of guys and gals with 5+ years on that do not have take homes. Some of them have NEVER had a car period and have been waiting patiently. How do you think they feel?? You've got people in some specialties with under 2 years on driving take homes than people who who've put it way more time. It's unfair in every sense no matter how you look at it. Last year who did the 2011 Vic's go to? The most senior road officers no questions asked. Even people like Zoueva got a brand new car. So now this year do you think they'll hold to any sense of fairness with distributing them correctly? Doesn't look like it. I dont care what unit your in, road patrol, housing, bikes, task force, whoever, there are plenty of people who run to hot calls on a daily basis. The next 10 ID numbers in line for a car should be the next 10 to get cars. Then no one can whine and complain that it's unfair. It is what it is. LT., this is your chance to show some fairness or consistency with running the fleet. Guys or gals shouldn't get passed up because of what or where they are at. Next in line = fair!!! And I'm a road guy WITH a take home so I'm speaking from what I hear and what the majority of officers want to see.
Re: CHARGERSI agree with the last post minus one exception. Thornton and Winters are getting one, no one can argue that because theyve been here forever. The remaining list goes Davilia, McCormick, Ross, Price, Jackson, and Almonte in that order. That's the seniority list by ID numbers. With the exception of McCormick, the other 5 don't have take homes. They should all be getting Chargers an shame on this place if one of them gets shafted somehow. That will show a real precident of inequality and unfairness should one of them get passed over for a new car after waiting this long.
Re: CHARGERSi agree with them getting cars, but you have to look at this way. We are not the county, we do not get a ton of cars every year. in fact with the way our budget works theres no guarantee we will evern get cars next year. so you have to look at this way, do we take the brand new cars and give them to responsible people that will take care of them or give them to people who will drive and treat them bad.
Ross and jackson both derserve take homes, but both have two speeds STOP and FAST with pedal to floor. You cant deny it. A simple dispatch of a 179 you hear ross's engine revving at top speed when he says 51 on the radio. He also puts 70 miles a day on whatever car he drives on his commute. So i would say its fair to give him a used car while the new one would go to someone like winters who will treat it well and take care of it.
Re: CHARGERSThe list is ok. Do not know much about Winters. Maybe he is due because his car is older. Thornton is alright, have you seen some of the cars he owned. Good choice. Some of the others yea Jackson and a few time for new cars. Good to see some deserving getting the new cars.
Re: CHARGERSGuest, if you have an issue with the way Ross or Jackson drives why not go discuss it with them? I've worked with both of them in the past and they take very good care of their respective assigned cars. How do you drive? I'm guessing that you probably don't and are one of those officers who's parked under a tree all night, too lazy or to scared to do your job. Atleast they don't wreck cars, both are good guys and good officers. And as far as new cars go, that didn't stop them from giving one to Zoueva who's wrecked like 5 cars since she's been here including having the door taken off her 2011 right after she got it.
Re: CHARGERSYou people are acting like school girls. The cars had to go to someone, and for the most part they went by seniority. Jackson and Ross are good cops that work hard. Winters and Thornton are veterans who take care of their stuff. Stop complaining and let's focus on the stuff that is most important.
