So is the merge of OMCC officers into Florida Highway Patrol 100% official and legit? Before the merge what was the pay difference between a OMCC Officer and a Trooper. Is everything being done fair and legit across the board as far as pay scales? Also is a OMCC officer now officially a Trooper on paper?? I know in troopers eyes they will never be equal, just wondering how it has been done.
Im sure if you are asking this question, you know the answers. But in the slight chance you dont know, let me say it should be pretty easy to figure out. We are troopers. Our badges and id cards say trooper. Our job description says trooper. Our cars will say trooper. We have been told that we are to help out and work short forms on top of our cmv duties that we have always had. We are troopers in all areas and have been told many times that we are troopers, period. Oh well except when it comes to pay. We will not get brought up to equal pay, we cant work the same off duty jobs because we cant work over size escorts. We cant work soar. We are only allowed 7 hrs every two weeks of stop overtime, while our equal brothers get 8 hrs per week of soar. somi would say all in all, its going just as we expected it would.
I have not heard the part about helping out with short forms but everything else is right on. That being said I am sure it is just a matter of time before we start working wrecks too.
Ok, had been reading this forum and wondering how things were done. How receptive were the Troopers when you were merged and reclassed as troopers. I'm from a different state where a merge took place, things have been done different here.
The part about wrecks was directly from our captains mouth. Its not rumor. Its fact.
Just found out yesterday also that the Staff sergeants got to keep their pay additive they were getting for the added duties to oversee the maintenance issues at the scales. They no longer need that pay additive especially since they dont have that extra dutie any longer. You cant say it was a promotion bc everyone knows thats not a promotion and the people who got it were just given it without any competitive process.
Maybe they could have let the sergeants who were demoted keep their pay if they would have done away with the staff sergeants pay additive as we were told they were going to do. The staff sergeants are no longer staff sergeants and arent doing the job that got them the extra money for the extra work, they shouldnt be paid for the work they arent doing any longer.
As far as the troopers, i have to say that i am surprised, but they have been very welcoming to us, which i appreciate very much. i am hopung its because they realize that the merger isnt because of us. We are just holding on for this ride trying to figure which end isnup right now.
The problem seems to be at the top and the legislature when you are talking about the pay issues.
I concur, Troopers are very receptive and haven't heard much about being titled Troopers. The Troopers I have to deal with are professional and understanding. They have told me they are happy for the merger and look forward to working hand in hand with OMCC/CVE Troopers.
Why do we have a separate forum now that we are all a part of FHP? Can anyone answer this question before this post is deleted? Again? And I wonder why it's being deleted. Have I violated the terms in any way? Someone else asked the same question and I did also and both were deleted.
Good question ^
Its being deleted because your trying to stir the pot. Theres no conspiracy, no other reason other than its still here and egeryone one is free to post. If you dont like the forum and feel ypur better than anyone who posts here, dont come on.
Go away and stop trying to stir trouble.
Hey dumbarse - this site is "Florida Department of Transportation" - we're not there anymore - we are with the Florida Highway Patrol. Nuff said.
As a trooper with 20 plus years, I welcome CVE aboard to FHP. I hope you are not mistreated and are treated with respect by other Troopers.
Nevertheless, like other agencies, we will always have those 10% that will never accept change and be disgruntled.
As for pay equal to troopers, unfortunately no money was added to the budget when you guys came over, so it would had to be taken from FHP' s allotted budget, which was already reduced for 2011-2012.
My guess is that eventually this will be fixed.
Just hang in there and welcome aboard.
