Did you really NEED a press conference to give money to the sons of Bea Dickey?

They lost their mother in the most violent possible way and nothing is ever going to replace her.

Don't get me wrong. The donation is a wonderful thing. I just think the whole press conference/lottery style check set-up was unnecessary and extremely tacky. The boys definitely didn't win anything.

I suppose the need for attention and a presence in all forms of media come before tact or consideration these days...

This is not a Grady thing. This is a Bubba thing. He does this everytime he gives money away to law enforcement. If this is what he wants to do, why shoudl Grady disagree and turn away the money for her kids?!

GJ could have told "Bubba" that it was a very sensitive and personal situation and felt a "press conference" was not appropriate. But do you think for one minute he would decline a tv camera and reporters??? For whatever reason, all else goes by the wayside!
