And you thought FHP's application process was slow!

http://www.troopers.ny.gov/

An Academy class of 140 recruits began training on April 23, 2012. Applicants through the rank of 2,403 were processed to date from the 2008 entrance examination. Details for another processing from the 2008 examination are not available at this time, please visit this site regularly for updated information.

Lol, can you imagine hearing, "Sir, we have your application from four years ago on file. Just keep visiting the website and standing by for further information. Don't call us, we'll call you."

NYSP doesn't have as many vacancies as we do here in Florida.

Nobody leaves NYSP and if they have more than 150 people leave in 4 years I would be surprised. Most of those who do leave either retire or decide that they want to work for a Federal Law Enforcement Agency. Thats why they dont have to test very often.

Its not like here in Florida where FHP is a reveolving door of dysfunction and 150+ people leave the agency a year.

Pay, pay, pay, pay!!!! The only solution they can come with. If the city cop is making more, then we will always lose Troopers to the cities and other agencies. Wait untill the hiring freeze is lift off in most agencies. FHP will get hit pretty bad, I mean really bad!!!

I don't see how.....considering everyone and their brother wants to get the hell out of New York and come to Florida! Almost zero tax here compared to getting taxed to death up there, good weather here vs. sh#tty weather there, and the list goes on.

NYSP has good pay, step raises, excellent benefits, a govt that gives a sh*t about them, opportunities for advancement, good health Ben and retirement etc. The only downside is that you're not permitted to be a morbidly obese, slovenly looking scumbag. Sucks I know. You can't even sue the state to force them to let you be a morbidly obese, slovenly looking scumbag. What a crock of sh*t! Imagine that, an agency enforcing weight and fitness standards. A respected agency that pays well can require troopers to be fit. It's not racism, sexism or anti-fatredneckism. Just professionalism.

There are overweight troopers in EVERY state, son. Anyone who tells you otherwise is a fool.

Wait until you start filing paper works 85% of your time, and you still have to make time for your family. You don't have much time to work out. I have couple overweight guys in my troops. Yet, they have ethics and do their jobs.
