In my district, we only have 1 Trooper patrolling 3 counties on mids 4 nights a week. It they call in sick, we don't have anybody out. If a wreck happens, they call somebody from the PM or AM shift out of bed. All 3 counties had the Interstate running through them. Kind of difficult to shut the Interstate down when nobody's working at all? Glad the arsonist didn't decide to visit one of our counties.

FDLE has no power to enforce traffic statutes.

Sorry pal to burst your bubble but what are you talking about? You are just a bonus. The Sheriff's Office covers ALL the counties and only needs a Trooper if there is a wreck. It doesnt matter if a Trooper patrols a county or not. "I patrol three counties in my District" Wooooo like you are some lone Alaska State Trooper covering all this terrain. You handle crashes. All you have to worry about is x65 sig 4. The Sheriffs in Florida will handle the rest. If the Sheriffs need more manpower they call in more or call the surrounding counties. The idea of 1 or 2 troopers has never even made it to the table when addtional manpower is needed for law enforcment. The only time the word Trooper even comes up if there is a severe injury and the Sheriff's Office has other priority calls in back log.

If this investigation does not show that we need more Troopers on the road then we all need to move on to another state. Please come to Florida and if you have an incident on the Interstate or any major road we will send you a Deputy or City Police officer to assist you when they are caught up with the alarm calls. We have a lot of thunder storms in Florida and you know those house alarms go off in bad weather.

I understand you car is flipped over in the center of the Interstate with injuries but we have to clear out these alarm calls first. This is an election year and the Sheriff does not want any alarms going off for more then a few minutes. Every vote counts.

No thank you. We need State Troopers that are ready to respond right away. We need more Troopers working the Interstate.

I think the average public citizen would be stunned to know this is a fact. If you told them this, they'd laugh and say you were lying. Why the media ignores this elephant in the room is beyond me? Print the truth. Then ask the speaker of the senate, speaker of the house, and the governor in a public interview to comment on your findings and to explain this absence of public safety. Public safety is about the only real reason to have a government. Government leaders are responsible for properly funding it and providing the necessary resources. In my view, they have failed miserably. Somebody should call them on it.
