I'm a patrol officer for a department in central Florida. I'm a THI, FTO, and I have a bunch of other training that never gets used due to small town bs. I am considering moving to Georgia. Does anyone know if you have to retake the basic academy if you apply from one state to another for GSP? If so how long is it? Also is there a cross over class from one state to another? We have that here but I don't know if you have one.

Stay safe.

I looked into it and according to GEORGIA POST (police officers standard and training) governs same. I was told with all my prior LEO experience I would still need the 200 hours of high liability. Georgia Troopers and others have their own academy with different standards. Georgia has since opened regional cademies, howvere if I was you contact Georgia POST directly and get it in writing. Good Luck .. fellow FL LEO. Also check with each agency you want to apply with
