A rookie Miami-Dade police officer was shot and wounded in Cutler Ridge Sunday night, authorities said.
The officer was then airlifted to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, but the condition was not known.
Authorities said a suspect was taken into custody.
The shooting occurred at or near the intersection of Southwest 186th Street and 107th Avenue. The circumstances of the shooting were also unknown, and the wounded officer was not identified.
At Ryder Trauma Center, four Miami-Dade police cruisers, three with their lights flashing, were seen near the entrance to the hospital.

MIAMI (AP) -- A Miami-Dade Police officer is in stable condition after being shot multiple times, authorities said Sunday.
Officer Robert Gonzalez, 31, approached a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot around 8:20 p.m. when the suspect ran from the car. Gonzalez ran after the suspect, who turned and fired multiple shots at the officer, Miami-Dade Police said.
The suspect, who has not been identified, is in custody, authorities said.
Gonzalez, who has been with the department for 10 months, was flown to Jackson Memorial Hospital where he is listed in serious but stable condition, said Miami-Dade Officer Juan Villalba.
"It looks like he's going to make it," Villalba told a local TV station.
Miami-Dade Police did not return multiple calls by The Associated Press on Sunday night.
Gonzalez's shooting comes after several South Florida officers have been injured or killed in recent months.
Deputy Paul Rein was fatally shot in November while transporting an inmate. Deputy Maury Hernandez survived a gunshot to the head Aug. 6 during a traffic stop. Sgt. Chris Reyka, 51, was fatally shot Aug. 10 as he was looking for stolen vehicles behind a drug store.
In September, Miami-Dade County police officer Jose Somohano was fatally shot by a gunman who ambushed him and three other officers. The suspect was killed by officers hours later in Broward.
"Anytime you put on a uniform...you always have in the back of your mind that it's a very dangerous job and certainly anytime something like this happens it certainly reminds you," Villalba said.
