Well, you have one deputy going to prison for shooting a handcuffed prisoner in the back seat of his cruiser. You have a OIS which has still not been addressed by the SA, over a month after the shooting occurred. You also have several questionable use of force cases over the last couple of years. Yeah, that is what I presented here. It is just the tip of the iceberg, though. So, good luck carrying on this way in an election year.

If anything the adoption of our new use of force documentation has resulted in fewer uses of force. In my experience it has been in situations where the suspect needed to be handed with more force, but the Deputy held back. I think that will work itself out but I genuinely hope no one gets hurt hesitating over a blue team form.

You sure a out your facts there Sparky? Maybe you should check county court records on who is or isn’t going to prison for shooting a prisoner while handcuffed. I’m pretty sure he got fired though. We have a deputy involved shooting that will result in a fast clearance by the State Attorney’s Office, the agency’s review board and a combat cross for the stellar deputy involved. Name specific use of force cases please regarding your other ramblings. A civil suit does not in anyway infer fault or misfeasance. Your ice berg is an ice cube. We will carry on as we always have. Have a nice day!!!!

So, a deputy is found guilty of a criminal felony, lost his job, may end up being personally liable for millions of dollars, for shooting a handcuffed arrestee in the backseat of a cruiser is fine with you? You have an OIS which has been "investigated" for over a month, with a "suspect" in custody and still no indictment of the "suspect" and no SA clearance of the deputy. This is very unusual in a cut and dried OIS. Actually, a civil judgement does, indeed, find fault or malfeasance. And, a personal judgement can destroy your life.
You really have to return to reality and leave Never-Never land. Also, remember that the Sheriff is an elected politician. Usually, politicians will throw anyone under the bus to benefit themselves. You think you have some kind of protection? Dream on. But, no one will miss LEOs who do whatever they want and run rough-shod over the rights of citizens.

Most suspects follow orders but those who don't need some physical persuading sometimes. Back in the old days batons or large flashlights were used. Very effective so they were good options for cops rather than having to shoot some dirtbags who wanted to show how tough they were. A few strikes to the gut or knees handled the problem. These soft liberal politicians should try to arrest some of these scumbags who resist arrest to see how they like it in hand to hand combat. I didn't get paid enough to wrestle with POS suspects just because these politicians like to play hug a thug for votes.
