Opioids and steroids - the elephant in the room this administration refuses to address.
There was one case in which a deputy became addicted because his wife was a small time opioid dealer to support her own habit. He came clean, admitted his addiction and turned her in. She was prosecuted but he was given a leave of absence and sent to rehab, part of the deal. He returned to work and got a divorce. He left the agency a few years ago.
Many years ago two D&C deputies who used steroids got caught at the border smuggling various drugs from Mexico, independent of each other. They were fired and federally prosecuted.
But opioid and steroid abuse is peanuts compared to the alcoholism which is rampant here. Even when people come to work drunk everyone looks the other way.

I'm saying 60% of patrol is either on opiods or steroids, mixed with a little weed. Civilian closer to 75%. Probably all of you personally know at least one overdose death. When will our sheriff start arresting the doctors? And their nurses? And office workers? And everybody who's a member of the chain-of-demand gang?
