Those who decide whether or not you get the raise are elected officials who want to be re-elected. Their finger is on the pulse of the electorate, and, at this point, they couldn't care less about lame duck Israel. Rather than close ranks and wait for the truth to be forced, it would have been a good idea to "suggest" to your SRO's and road deputies that they start "talking." They know a lot about what goes on in the schools and in the community that would expose the fraud of the juvenile crime statistics-especially in Parkland. What's wrong is wrong. It's been noted that to deputies, "policy' is not considered an out for Kratz and the others; but "policy" is the reason given for deputies who won't talk about the issues of "discretion" with regard to juvenile crime.
Call it ratting, call it whatever you want, but until your on the same team with the public who want this sham fully exposed, you are considered participants in the game, and the commission feels that it is doing what the public wants. Want to be seen as heroic and raise worthy? Leak stuff. Expose a case where inaction left a threat to the community. Police and teachers unions repeatedly fail to recognize that they can't get ahead without the public behind them. Case in point, the 4 teachers from Douglas that were reassigned and requested public supports to get their jobs back. NOT happening. Why ? because they would not speak up about Runcie and hid stuff about what was going on in the schools until THEIR own jobs were in jeopardy. It was too late to ask for public support.
You deserve a raise, better radios, better health insurance etc. but the overall image that you're presently projecting is one of secrecy and cooperation with the status quo.

You can deny the validity of the post above you want, but this issue was the basis of the response from Comissioner Udine He was the only commissioner who would verbalize what the rest were thinking. It would be a good idea to get out of the Bell vs. Israel mindset. Compatmentalizing these issues "cowardice" "PBA vs. IUPA", does not address the real issues.

Subcontractors
I think you guys all need to go back and listen to what the Commissioners said at the end of the impasse hearing. Money that comes directly from the county budget ( The General Fund ) is not to be used for Contract Cities. The money for raises, benefits and equipment is supposed to come from the Contract Cities budget. In essence that makes every Deputy assigned to a Contract City a subcontractor. If BSO lost every Contract City every DLE Deputy with the exception of a couple of hundred senior DLE Deputies would be laid off.The PSB, the Unincorporated areas, the Courthouse, Airport and the Port are the only areas funded by the county budget. Using that standard you are only as strong as your weakest negotiated City Contract budget because Sheriff would not pay employees in the same bargaining unit and same classification different salaries and benefits. Sheriff Israel or any other Sheriff for that matter could use this to their advantage in the future. So even if an Arbiter ruled in your favor at an impasse hearing regarding any monetary issues. The sheriff would simply take his argument to the County Commissioners and they would most certainly overturn any decision in his favor of the sheriff. Food for thought!

Correct; and these facts are more good reasons to apply to a city police department outside of BSO. How many of these contract cities will re-contract with a policy that states "may" enter? It's political suicide for many. Expect the contracted cities to go down like dominoes. BSO policy is not safety oriented and the "leader" is a nut job.

. You're absolutely correct. I would also mention that is violates Florida law to use general funds to pay for contract cities. This was being done under Jenne and Lamberti and started to become a legal issue at vary levels. What most fail to recognize is that the CBA we have been operating under since 2015 only allowed for a COLA to be considered. Bell and party wanted to increase the longevity provisions which were not open for negotiations under the current contract. Once Bell and party realized that fact they then attempted to call it an additional COLA for those with 20+ years which was totally illogical.
SI has continually offered the total 3% COLA but because of Bell and party it has not been paid. Until and unless Bell and party accept the 3% COLA we get nothing.
Footnote: regardless of politics, SI could very easily refuse the 3% COLA as it was not asked for by Bell and party. He could stick it up all of our asses for our own stupidity to maintain the current Bell party leadership. SI hasn't gone low which is what many would do especially in the private sector.

If the Broward Commission were smart, They would create a county police department. Leave BSO with the budget for the Jail, Civil, and CI and turn over the budget for all other non-constitutional LE activities to the County Police Department.
It becomes a way to strip the "constitutional officer" of the power recently granted by the refferendum.

Legally defective but the reason for impasse was not a secret. It’s a moot point that it wasn’t included in paperwork. A technicality that just allowed these trashy unethical democrats to come up with a new excuse not to pay us. I’ve lost all respect for the democrat leadership in Broward County, they are the most unethical dishonest group of people I’ve ever seen.
The democrat party is the reason for the failures of this county from top to bottom. Until the voters in this county get fed up with the utter and complete incompetence of the democrat party, this county will continue its steep decline until it looks exactly like Baltimore or Chicago. Once that happens, anyone who can afford to get out, will get out. Democrats destroyed Detroit, and now they are destroying Broward County.
A hundred million back is not zeroing out he books unless every dime of that surplus comes back, which we all know is not the case. Everything the democrats do is a lie.
