According to PBA, 5% is from both the house and the senate. Not sure where you heard that ses from, ses are not employees from the bargaining unit, so it doesn't make any sense. Maybe 5% for everyone but ses, that makes sense.

I want 18% and 1,400! Nah, I'll be happy with any crumbs they throw our way.

I gotta question tho, since compression is our biggest issue in this agency, besides low pay. Why are you going to pay someone under $40,000, $1,400 and someone over $40,000, only $1,000. It's minor but it seems really to compress our salaries more than they are now.
New guy on a specialty unit or some special area makes $39,990
Senior guy in a non cad zone and no specialty unit makes $40,000 base.

Now with the raise the new guy makes $41,300 while senior guy would make $41,000. MINOR I know, but I think it should be, more than 5 years and under rank of Lt. gets 1,400 less than five years gets 1,000. Anyone SES doesn't get anything.

Official statements said the House didn't have any raises in their budget. PBA has yet again failed to communicate with everyone besides their paying members. They are our entire agencies bargaining unit and should communicate with the entire agency about what they are fighting to achieve.

Them become a member and pay them too. Just because you are brass doesn't mean you can't become a member. You are just parasitic of the members who pay their due. Yes, we get an email because of it. In all reality, the brass is always knocking down the union, but they never complain when they get a raise thanks to the pba. Hypocrites

Members shouldn't have to pay to get corropsondances from their union. The entire agency voted them in to lobby on our behalf. Not just paying members. Some members have other representation, still doesn't change that the PBA is our union and he represent us, the working members of the agency.

Has PBA released any new information relating to the session and budget issues? It's been a while since one of their emails.

Legislative activity for week of April 10th - 14th
Week six of the session was truncated because of Passover and Easter.

    - The Legislature is primed for budget negotiations with each chamber passing a version of the budget on the respective chamber floors.

    - Body camera footage review legislation will be heard next week on the Senate floor.

    - The Career Development Plan's doubling of state officers salary incentive monies passed another Senate Committee (keeping the issue alive for budget negotiations).

Please review this week's summaries below:

    Pay Raises Proposals
The Senate and House have officially passed two versions of a pay raise proposal. The next step is reaching a single version which will be placed into the 2017-2018 state budget. Budget negotiations get underway next week.

    The details are:

-The Senate budget includes a pay raise for all state employees on September 30, 2017 ($1,400 for employees earning under $40,000 per year and $1,000 for employees earning over $40,000). This raise is on top of the specific raises for the units listed below.

    - Both budgets include a 5% across the board pay raise for the FHP, Law Enforcement Officers and FDLE Special Agents bargaining units (Senate Plan includes the Lottery Law Enforcement Unit, but House left the unit out by mistake).

    - Correctional Officers of all classes in the Security Services bargaining unit will receive an additional pay raise in the Senate Budget. On July 1, 2017, each correctional officer in all classes of the bargaining unit will receive a minimum of $2,500, or the amount necessary to move the employee to following new base amount:
    Correctional Officer - $33,500
    Correctional Officer SGT - $36,850
    Correctional Officer LT - $40,535
    Correctional Officer CPT - $44,589

The House proposal includes a $1,300 across the board pay raise for COs in all bargaining unit classes with no changes to the minimum class salaries.

    - Correctional Probation Officers (all bargaining unit classes) and Institutional Security Specialists are only included in the across the board September 30th raise for all state employees in the Senate budget. The justification for not including the CPOs and ISS in either of the July 1st pay raises centered on turnover and vacancy rates. The PBA disagrees with the Legislature's assessment. A group of CPOs and ISS members are joining us in Tallahassee next week to lobby key legislators for inclusion in the July 1st raise.

    The Career Development Plan

The Career Development plan has become the doubling of the Salary Incentive program for state agencies. This change in strategy was done at PBA's request. On Thursday, SB 168 by Senator Jack Latvala passed the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government unanimously.

We plan to keep this issue alive during budget negotiations with the goal of adding it to our collective bargaining contract impasse resolutions.

    Local Pension Plans

PBA lobbyists monitored the West Palm Beach (HB 1135) in the House Government Accountability Committee. The bill passed unanimously and is now ready to be heard by the full House of Representatives.

    Body Camera Footage Review

SB 624 by Senator Greg Steube is scheduled to be heard on the Senate floor next week.

    As always, please stay safe.

    Sincerely,

    Matt Puckett

What's the deal with raises this year, still just 5%?

Also, has there been any talk about this CMP issues. Troopers working counties where others are making more to work them. Also, has PBA spoke about the issue with Troopers assigned to a neighboring CMP county and being required to take calls in that county but not getting paid.
