Law Enforcement Major under investigation with IA

I was contacted by multiple people who stated they witnessed Paul Richard at a Braves baseball game and I’ll use the term allegedly, out of fairness, as I wasn’t there. They all stated he was under the influence of an intoxicating beverage. According to my sources the Major was with his family. He was upset that a gentleman stood up several rows in front of him to allow others to exit. He yelled at that guy to sit down multiple times while carrying on in a loud and obnoxious way. A short time later a NPPD Sergeant came up and met with the gentleman that Richard was yelling at. The Sergeant sat down and was speaking to the gentleman when Richard yelled at the NPPD Officer something to the affect that we don’t pay you to watch the game, go do your job. According to the folks that shared this with me Richard was allegedly slurring his words and announcing that he was a Major with the Sarasota Sheriff’s Office. Yellow shirted security personnel made their way to incident as Richard was refusing to quiet down. I later found out that the gentleman Richard originally yelled at was a Bradenton PD Sergeant.
So, was there any security camera footage requested for the IA? Were the Yellow shirted security officers interviewed?
So many questions to answer. The biggest one is will the Major, if found guilty of what I believe would be called Conduct unbecoming of an officer, be held accountable to the same standards that all Deputies are currently being held? Or, will it just be swept under the carpet? As a citizen of Sarasota County I must admit that I am a bit appalled and embarrassed for our Agency. I know the Sheriff does not like being embarrassed by his troops.
Sheriff, we will be watching and waiting for your answer on this situation.

Thumbs up Mafia style tactics from the top downwards...

Knight refused to investigate Captain Ron Locke (Ret.) for getting a juvenile pregnant, thus forcing FDLE to do the investigation. What makes anyone think that Knight will order an IA investigation on Paul Richard for conduct unbecoming at a baseball game?

Let's review Knight and his personally appointed staff one... more... time...

    • The FBI denied Sheriff Tom Knight a Top Secret security clearance. Knight was also arrested by VPD for disorderly conduct at a bar when he got drunk and got into a fight over "woman issues." He publicly called Sarasota
School board member Shirley Brown stupid, tried to sabatoge the school budget (documented in a Herald Tribune sting) and he recently called Commissioner Hagen Brody a liar. Knight's past and present "emotional outbursts in public" show is true character. Knight defied a judges order to keep guns out of courthouses. Which H-T article would you like to read? Here's one:
      https://www.heraldtribune.com/news/2...superintendent

    • Colonel Kurt Hoffman failed a polygraph test about stealing from multiple victims and from multiple employers. Hoffman confessed to:
      - stealing pornography
      - stealing a boat
      - stealing from multiple past employers
      - stealing gasoline while working as a reserve deputy for the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office (twice).
      Here is an article:
      https://www.scribd.com/document/3224...t-Hoffman-News

    • Captain John Walsh was investigated for having sex with another deputy's wife in the other deputy's home. The deputy caught Walsh in bed with her and he filed a complaint. (1) While under oath during an IA investigation, Walsh denied it during three separate interviews. (2) Then Walsh then got Detective Mark Macale to lie as a false alibi. That's about as crooked and as you can get (and that's only for those who are caught). Macale finally cracked and told the truth - and he admitting lying under oath as a false alibi for Walsh - but Walsh continued lying (because he didn't know that Macale cracked). Knight promoted Walsh to captain. Here are articles about it:
      https://www.scribd.com/document/3214...ohn-Walsh-News

    • Ron Locke has retired, but he was a Knight crony, so he is dishonorably mentioned here. Sergeant Chris Iorio (retired) and Deputy Kevin Sugg told Knight that Locke got a juvenile pregnant and paid for the abortion. The mother was livid, but Locke threatened to arrest her if she hit him. Knight refused to investigate the pedophilia, so FDLE did it. Here is an article:
      http://www.heraldtribune.com/article...ICLE/120619799
Knight subsequently retaliated against the two whistle blowing deputies by suspending them without pay on trumped up allegations. An article is here:
      https://www.questia.com/newspaper/1P...ed-by-sergeant

    • Captain Kevin McElyea failed a lie detector tests about sleeping with another man's wife when the husband caught them in bed together. McElyea denied it, so the husband secretly recorded McElyea discussing how to suppress the evidence - and the husband gave the secret recording to Knight - but Knight flushed the case and promoted McElyea to captain. Here is the lie detector test:
      http://s1179.photobucket.com/user/Pe...rOath.gif.html

    • During a traffic stop, Lt. Dan Tutko asked a K-9 deputy to lie by claiming that the search dog "alerted" to drugs during a sniff test (by walking the dog around the driver's car) – when, in fact, the dog did NOT alert. When a dog alerts, then it gives deputies the authority to search a car for drugs, without an owners consent. The K-9 deputy refused to lie for Tutko – and the K-9 deputy reported Tutko's actions to Knight. Knight imposed no punishment on Tutko, but instead, Knight retaliated against the whistleblowing K-9 deputy by kicking him out of the K-9 unit. Then Knight promoted Tutko. Here is an article:

Apparently the Sheriff will ask you retire early if you have fun on a game show, but not if you get drunk and bully other officers while they are working. Maybe Paul needs to be three beers deep before he isn't scared anymore. We call him "Stuttering Paul" now after that amazing display of leadership on Live T.V. You have lost our respect. Now this? Come on just go away.

In Paul’s defense, a person would have to drink to watch a Braves game. Unfortunately, I know Paul is a Braves fan. I am not sure how you discipline a guy for being loud at a baseball game. Unless there is something that he actually did that crossed a line.

Thumbs up Employee X verses Employee Y

It can go one of two investigatory directions, depending on the employee's internal political standing with Mr. Tom Knight.

    • Garden variety expendable deputy: Employee X gets handled as a disorderly intoxication case, which is a criminal act that:
      (1) violates state law [conformance with laws] and
      (2) violates agency policy [conduct unbecoming].
      .
      verses
      .
    • Knight's senior staff political appointee: Employee Y gets handled as an excited fun loving fan who is rooting for his team. The internal case is closed without any violations of any sort.

I have no doubt that if it was a deputy Paul would launch a full investigation! But, if there was no investigation for Hoffman uttering a forged instrument I doubt Tom will do anything about this. It’s called HIPOCRACY.

While in the real world it is called hipocracy, in the corrupt world of the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office, a subdivision of the Sarasota County Republican Party, it is called Business as Usual.

    It's also called status quo.

We are all Republicans here (primarily). However, I've never seen a local sheriff's office (as the SSO) so deeply entrenched with a local political organization e.g. Tom Knight is bought, paid for and manipulated-at-will by the local Sarasota GOP. On the one hand, Democrats are socialists-leftists (which is bad), but on the other hand, the local Sarasota GOP is... uhmmmm... it's very hard to express: the Sarasota GOP is crooked by default through corporate manipulations to financially steer, influence and pay for elected Republican puppets that have been selected by the Sarasota GOP to do their backroom bidding. Knight is a part of that manipulative party. We can't vote for Democrats (or independents), but conversely, the Sarasota GOP is supporting some wicked and devious people. Look at Knight as an internally destructive example. As a destructive long-term example: Knight opted to build himself a new office, which was not needed, when he should have lobbied commissioners to build a sorely needed new jail to handle the population growth in the county.

It is a swamp here and it needs to be drained and replaced with ethical people who are not self-serving political megalomaniacs.

So when someone points out issues with the Sarasota sheriff, then they are automatically "malcontents"? That is a typical manipulative spin. If you speak up, then you are a malcontent? That's management manipulation 101. Everyone I work with is a hard worker. We are too busy and too shorthanded to have a choice. Most of the people that complain actually work even harder, so that is why they complain. Just because someone speaks up or mentions morality problems, etc --> that does not mean they are a "malcontent." Instead of listening, Knight twists things around. I'm sure that sounds very familiar in the private lives of all our robot butt kissers upstairs. Speaking up and speaking out does not mean "malcontent." Quite the contrary.

Slicksleeve deputies and detectives generally keep quiet and work hard. We jump through all the hoops in naive hope of fairness, integrity and internal standards. You know this is true. After a while, that deputy or detective will become pissed off and will start speaking up and speaking out, not because he or she is a "malcontent," but because they are an intelligent human. Anyone with any self worth will stand up. It has nothing to do with being a "malcontent." If Knight was a leader, then he would understand. A leader listens to subordinates and relays those concerns to the chain, without worrying about self-image.

But kissers are yes men. Yes men follow and do not lead. That's why nothing changes here. We need leaders. Leaders who have intelligence. You should try it.

Nothing will be done. History shows Tom protects pedos, liars, and thieves. Just look at the above posts. You can’t make this stuff up.
