Why is our city hiring past employees from opa locka and lauderdale lakes...

The city's finance director is facing allegations that while working in Opa-Locka she violated city rules and used more than $1 million in customer utility deposits to balance the budget.
Finance Director Susan Gooding-Liburd came to Lauderdale Lakes with Kelvin Baker, the former Opa-locka city manager hired by Lauderdale Lakes to be city manager in September 2015. Baker resigned last month in a staffing dispute with commissioners.

The Miami Herald reported that Opa-locka officials in 2014 secretly used the deposits of thousands of business and residential water customers to help offset a budget shortfall. The account, which had $1.7 million in it, has been reduced to just over $16,000, the report said and it wasGooding-Liburd who authorized the transfers.
State law says the deposits eventually are supposed to be returned to customers.

Gooding-Liburd, in an email response to the Sun Sentinel, declined to comment on the report.

While her boss, Lauderdale Lakes Interim City Manager Phil Alleyne, said the "allegations are disturbing," he said he would wait for all the facts to come out. He said he had not discussed the situation with Gooding-Liburd.

But Vice Mayor Eileen Rathery said, "I'm very nervous right now. I'm prepared for us to take any action that's necessary for us to take."
She said she plans to set up a meeting with Gooding-Liburd and Alleyne.
Opa-locka has been in economic meltdown, with the state in June stepping in to take over the city's finances. The FBI has also been investigating the city and has filed corruption charges against several city officials.
Lauderdale Lakes was facing a similar financial crisis in 2010 after it accrued $9 million in unpaid bills for Broward Sheriff's Office services and had improperly taken about $2.5 million from its Community Redevelopment Agency to cover city operating expenses.
Lauderdale Lakes avoided state intervention by agreeing to a multi-year repayment plan to the sheriff's office and CRA, and commissioners increased its property tax rate to near the maximum allowed to keep the city afloat.

Since then, the city has been meeting its debt payments, increased its reserves and lowered the tax rate.

So far, the Opa-locka investigations have not touched Baker, who said he knew nothing of money being taken out of its utility deposits account.
"If I knew of any improper activities, I would have been the first to raise the alarm," Baker, who worked in Opa-locka from 2012-2015, told the Sun Sentinel.
Gooding-Liburd has served as Baker's finance director not only in Opa-locka and Lauderdale Lakes, but also in North Miami Beach when he was manager there.
Baker described her as a true professional and said he would be shocked if the report turned out to be true.

"There's just tons of misinformation about Opa-locka," Baker said. "I think in the end the truth will come out."Why is our city hiring past employees from opa locka and lauderdale lakes...In which those cities were tied to massive financial problems.

The answer to you question is this: If someone is an ignorant person with marginal abilities, and if they hire worse people than themselves, then by comparison they feel smart. This concept just proves their ignorance in the first place. A smart person would look for very able personnel to handle things, especially in the area of financial issues. Then again with the current city commission, all that matters is being family. So to sum it all up, incompetent losers from Miami Dade and that rat hole Opa Locka fit in just fine in ignorant Miramar.

Go ahead and make fun if you want to. The truth is that amphitheaters would make this country great again. We would have no need of a military, border patrol, health and human services, atomic energy commission, department of transportation, or any other federal department. They could all be shut down and the money moved to amphitheater construction nationwide. No money would need to be spent on crumbling infastructure, such as bridges, etc. Just amphitheaters everywhere. Yep, that's all our country needs, amphitheaters nationwide, each one hosting the latest jerk festivals. Our mayor, or should I say our future president, has to be a genius, an absolute genius. Don't forget to vote for him.
