Zephyrhills corrections officer arrested
http://baynews9.com/content/36/2006/6/23/165312.html
A Zephyrhills Correctional Institute officer found herself on the inside of the bars after being arrested by an undercover Pasco County Sheriff's deputy Thursday.
Sylvia McCombs, 48, is accused of introduction of contraband into a state detention facility. The undercover deputy met with McCombs in Wesley Chapel where she purchased 100 fake Oxycontin pills.
Deputies said McCombs admitted she was going to give them to an inmate in the facility. The sheriff's office also said the intent to deliver the pills is enough to arrest someone for introduction of contraband.
McCombs has since bonded out of the Pasco County Jail.

I like this article better. It mentions DOC was involved in the investigation. What a breath of fresh air. Good job!

I used to be amazed at how many prisoners tested positive for drugs and you just had the feeling all the drugs werent coming from the work crews and visitors. If DOC truly wants to put a stop to the drugs in prisons they must have dogs go through weekly the facilities and housing dorms. It wouldnt cost much to have one drug dog assigned to each major camp to do this weekly check and it would halt almost all smuggling of drugs you would just have to rotate what days they were done.
