    Employment question

Hi all, I have a quick question hopefully someone can answer. I see that this agency is hiring for a deputy sheriff position and is willing to sponsor the candidate through the academy. Now as a requirement I see it states you need to have 60 college credits. The community college I attended down south has a criminal justice AS degree program were you complete your general ed classes then can pick the police academy as a sub plan to complete your degree. So In my case I have completed the general ed classes required for the AS degree program and now all I need to do is complete the police academy and I will have my AS degree. With that being said do you think this agency will honor the credits I have now and the degree program I have chosen and will allow me to apply for this position with in mind that I will have the required credits once I graduate the police academy?

Understood. The only way around the 60 credit reauirement is:

    1. Military service or

    2. Already academy certified or

    3. You have a friend on the 2nd floor who will bend the rules for you as a political favor (aka you hzve an uncle in the business.)

Hahaha oh yess the political drama. Don’t waste your time applying here because the current elected sheriff is “out there.” If you come here and if you don’t fit into the 2nd floor's expected “click,” then you’ll be very uncomfortable (admiring Adolf Hitler’s leadership style, lying, flunking polys, porn thefts, secret pedophilia reports, sleeping with subordinates wives, gag mechanisms, and so on). Save yourself from the unneeded unprofessional drama and apply to Hillsborough County where it’s the exact same retirement system and the pay is great and the agency is big enough to find a good spot to work in.

    It's a good agency

This agency is plenty big and fine. Quit dramatizing stupid stuff. Every agency has it *****es. HCSO and SCSO are probably the best in Florida aside from PBSO and BCSO, unless you want go to South Florida. Our agency pays very well, great equipment, many opportunities, patrol, detective, mounted, marine, tact ical, swat, traffic, motors and on and on. It's a medium to big agency. I came from elsewhere and do not regret it. Rule 1 leave the drama with the old whiners. They are has beens and nothing will make them happy...... This is a very young agency. The management has almost retired out. So if you want to promote. Great opportunity. We are not a sleepy county by no means but we are not Miami Dade county either. great place to work and raise a family. Many of us are prior service. I have over 20 years and still have a positive attitude and just a grunt...... Good luck

Sort of..........7 miles into another county. Here's the kicker, many many many sworn employees with take
home vehicles live way more than 7 miles into another county. All the Brass just turn a blind eye to this RULE.

YES WE DO, I think it is like 10miles or under. Something like that. We do Sponsor for LEO and CO. I think they are currently doing it. You'll have to call HR and inquire. Good luck.

    Rules!!!!!!!!!!!

HR will read you the rule from the General Orders. If your on the like list, you can live many many many miles outside of the county and it will be no problem. If your not a suck and you drive 5 feet over the county line, they will have your head. It's who like who on the second floor. It's never fair for all, only some.

    Sold $226

Hey man knock it off. Take your jaded personality elsewhere. These are guys with real questions. They don't need to hear you cry the blues over your own agenda. This is a great agency. I come from military and prior LE. Unless you have worked for another LE agency. You don't know how good we've got it.

Someone mentioned sponsors. That definitely varies. Since we are one of the top paying agencies on West Coast. The applicant pool they can afford to be more narrow minded if you get my point. Anyway. Good luck. Yes we can take our cars out of county. You just park it at your house and drive it back when working. In todays society who wants to drive around in a marked car off duty....Your asking for problems. Just saying. Good luck
