What part of pursuits do you not get

The Sheriff has made it very clear about pursuits and just how rare they are going to be justified. We have been warned over and over again about strict adherence to policy and that violations will be dealt with. The ability to track your whereabouts, speed, etc 24/7 has also been thoroughly explained to you. After you have been around awhile, you will realize that catching bad guys really is secondary to policies and most especially when it is the focus of the Sheriff himself! For you young guns, if your not vested, guess what, you are not eligible for a disability pension. In addition, work mans comp hoops that you will have to jump through, and if the injury is severe enough where you can no longer do LEO work, you will be decertified and maybe have the opportunity to stay employed around here in a non cert capacity. Wrecks are the number one killer of Leo's. Anybody that thinks the 40hr rip just handed out for extreme speeds and continuing after being shutdown is excessive, had he wrecked and killed somebody doing the exact same thing, he probably would be sent to prison!

Rest assured that civil lawsuits will be coming stemming from this latest pursuit incident resulting in three drowned teens.

If you go against agency policy and pursue and get sued the agency may not represent you because you violated policy. You will be on your own so get ready to shell out money for legal representation and if you lose, having a judgment over your head the rest of your life.

Well of course it wasn't a pursuit or the Sheriff would have to find a deputy for a scapegoat and say he violated policy because we all know we can't chase stolen vehicles. He would then have to destroy that deputy so he does not look like the bad guy because that's what he does. We all know just because your lights are not on doesn't mean it's not a pursuit. I agree with others why couldn't they PIT the car then. Why bother training to PIT if you not going to use it. Good luck to those involved because Bob will hang someone if it looks like his all high and mighty supposed integrity is compromised. He a good example of "do as I say not as I do" because we know if it was him behind the car he would have chased them just like he did with the girl that was DWLSR which also was against his own policy but I don't recall him reprimanding himself.

You cringe and wimper at the thought of any form of collateral damage resulting from catching criminals. Yet, had we pursued that car and used PIT those three kids would be alive.

Funny, how the logic of avoiding people getting hurt results in even more cars fleeing and...wow...people getting hurt...

Maybe we can do a PSA and ask them nicely not to run away from us anymore.
