Thread: Ask the PBA

    Re: Ask the PBA

    Matt, why doesn't the PBA do up a packet, presentation or something and show the comparison between FHP to other state troopers throughout the country for the legislators and senators of this state? Show them how we are dead last in the nation as far as pay. Show them how troopers leave in droves for higher paying jobs with local departments. Shove it down their throats to the point that they either openly admit that they don't give a shit about us (like it really is), or force them to give us a pay raise.

    Heres an example;

    The starting salary for New Jersey State Troopers

    Starting Salary
    The current starting salary for a trooper is $62,403.60 (including uniform allowance). The second-year total compensation significantly increases to $69,489.30. Top pay for a Trooper I is $108,847.13. Troopers receive yearly increments.

    Ya know, it's been 5% here and maybe there ever since they took the step raises away. Just dangle that carrot in front of the jackasses face so he will keep going for it in hopes of finally getting it. It's not even a FULL size carrot, but one of those baby carrots (5%). If he does get that little carrot, it only barely fills the void of a starving stomach. To be of any actual benifit, get that mule strong and on it's way to good health again, you need to feed him a handful of big full grown carrots. That mule will then get it's health back and be more than willing to take on any job asked of it. Years ago retirees received at least a 3% cola and us that were still work got nothing at all. The legislature and senate created this problem and it was not our fault. They need to start making a reasonable DENT in fixing the problem THEY created, especially in the time of a budgetary surplus (whats thier excuse now). I would be willing to risk the 5% and refuse it demanding something really reasonable for a change,(as far behind as we are) that 5% is a kick in the teeth (like sticking a turd under your nose for a joke or something) especially during the time of a surplus. Years ago when there was talk about taking affirmative action away, there was a large group that sat in and said we're not going anywhere until this gets addressed and reach some type of agreement. The ballgame isn't in the seventh inning stretch, maybe time to play hardball?

    In Florida that will mean no raise unfortunately. State employees get screwed with how Florida's budget system is set up unfortunately. Getting 5% is a miracle with the State of Florida.

    So what do you say Matt? We are already dead last in the nation on pay, what do we have to loose?

    Don'y you think that's been done over and over the last 10 years? They know and they don't care and as long as they get 3,000+ applicants a year, they are fine with it...

    PBA cannot come through for us, that’s are why Matt and Bill Smith he has been silent. Matt used to respond almost immediately on the forum and we have not heard from him over seven days. With 20 days left in the session we should have some idea about pay raises. How about it Matt or Bill Smith?

    Hello?

    Matt sends out actual video updates of how the session is going to PBA members email. Maybe you should consider joining the PBA instead of whining.

    Hello?
    Please relax. The House budget still has a raise in it for you. The Senate and House have to conference over the budget differences. That conference will not take place until after Easter.

    I issue a weekly Capitol Report with all of this information.
