This was the original language :
Letters of counseling are not disciplinary action and not grievable; documentation or discipline less severe than an oral reprimand shall not be used against any employee in any fashion.

    The new language :

Letters of counseling or counseling notices are documentation of minor work deficiencies or conduct concerns that are not discipline and are not grievable; however such documentation may be used by the parties at an administrative hearing involving an employee’s discipline to demonstrate the employee was on notice of the performance deficiencies or conduct concerns.

Why did we give this up? Vote no on the new contract!

    Great question.

It was not given up. It was imposed by the legislative impasse committee. The PBA was not in support of this particular change.

For those not aware, the contract was ratified yesterday by a 3 to 1 margin.

Projected $1.6 Billion in Additional State Revenues for 2014-15

The state could have an estimated $28.82 billion in available general revenue in 2014-15, up from $27.26 billion in expected appropriations this year (an increase of $1.6 billion).

Of course, these revenue estimates are tentative, and analysts will continue to update the projected revenues in the coming months. General revenue is the key part of funding your salaries, benefits and equipment.

    Matt,
Troop H is getting ready to go to 12 hour shifts. Is the PBA involved in this discussion?

The answer is yes. They do have the ability to schedule SOAR. I don't imagine that to be a popular move, because many Troopers will struggle to schedule time to work it. Which leads to the Patrol not using all of the SOAR dollars and those dollars will certainly be taken away in future budgets. So it would be a really unpopular and ultimately costly decision if supervisors moved in that direction.
