NEW CHIEF IN TOWN

Dennis ****** spent his last shift as the town's police chief Monday.

****** headed the department from June 2008 until March 1, when he submitted his notice of resignation in order to become police chief for the city of Coral Gables in Miami-Dade County.

Maj. Brian Smith, who took over as interim chief on March 2, will lead the Juno Beach Police Department until a permanent replacement is selected, said Matthew Pazanski, the town's finance director. Candidates will first be considered from within the Juno Beach Police Department.
