Update on the Police Sergeant Candidates Exam Process

The Sergeant Situational Judgment Test hurdle has been scored with an answer key that included the above changes of the Sergeant Promotional Examination Item Challenge Committee. After the finalization of the Sergeant SJT cutoff score, a list will be provided by the Department of Employee Relations to the Chief of Police, or his designee. This list will contain the names of the approximately 70-90 candidates who will be invited to participate in the Sergeant Oral Board and Writing Exercises. The list of candidate names will be in ascending alphabetical order. The Department of Employee Relations expects to release this list to the Chief of Police, or his designee, in May 2009. Candidates who earn a score at, or above, the cutoff score on the September 8, 2008 Sergeant Situational Judgment Test hurdle will be invited to compete in the Sergeant Oral Board and Writing Exercises. The Department of Employee Relations is currently in the contracting process for the Sergeant Oral Board and Writing Exercises for testing rooms. The tentative date of the Sergeant Oral Board and Writing Exercises is mid- to late-July 2009. The final dates of the Sergeant Oral Board and Writing Exercises will be released in a subsequent Official Bulletin after the execution of the test site contracts. Individual invitations will be mailed to candidates who meet or exceed the SJT cutoff score. These invitations will contain information on the oral board exercises check-in time and date specific to each candidate.
