    Swimming Requirement

hello, everyone. I just saw that DBPD is hiring for the non-certified postion, and wanted to know if I have to take the swimming portion of the PAT at Broward Community College. Thank you in advance for your responses.

it wasnt a required a few years ago. I'd do it anyway so you can apply to other departments

DBPD seems to be the Titanic of agencies lately

Yeah, you definately better be able to swim if you want to work for DBPD. The boat is sinking fast and you don't want to drown.

    Smile Re: Swimming Requirement

Well, it's been a while since this was posted, but the swimming test isn't all that big a deal at BCC.

If you can swim at all, like float ~ it's not that big a deal. If you are in a pool, and when you stop moving, you SINK.... it'll be a challenge.

You'll be swimming from end to end, and back, without touching the bottom or flipping to a back float. It's not too bad.
Wear some exercise pants, like a lycra material that doesn't soak up a lot of water. I also wore an Underarmour shirt, again, to not soak up water and weigh you down.

Hey Delray, how many times has a LEO hit the water? PEACE & Be Safe
