After the loss of my wife to leukemia at the end of September I mentioned on this site that my eldest son was doing fund raising for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society by entering the Disney World half-marathon.

Some of you donated money to the fund raising effort. This is to thank you for that.

My son was not particularly involved in athletics prior to the loss of his mother, but has been training intensively since then. At age 44 he ran the half-marathon, and his result was impressive.

Of the 12,288 people who finished the race (even more entered and failed to finish) he came in number 451 with a chip time of 1 hour, 44 minutes and 56 seconds. Within his division he was number 71.

Thanks again to those of you who supported this effort. The money went to a truly worthy cause.
