Park amenities will include nature trails, picnic pavilions and shelters, an observation boardwalk in a forested wetland area, playgrounds and restrooms. The park includes a cattle pasture with a windmill, and will serve as a future hub for The Legacy Trail, the 10.6-mile recreational trail along the former railroad corridor between Sarasota and Venice.

Located at 4000 Honore Ave., Honore Trail Park also will be a showcase of Sarasota history. It includes the historically designated Dr. C.B. Wilson house, built around 1906, that will be restored to serve as a community meeting place and offices for the Friends of Sarasota County Parks. Also featured in the park will be the historically designated Svenheim Barn. Dating back to around 1925, the barn was moved from Siesta Key to serve as the park maintenance building.

The park is expected to open in summer 2009.

As part of the construction of the park, a left turn lane will be added to the northbound lane of Honore Avenue.
