    A sad day for TPD

Toby O'Brien has passed away. Our deepest sympathies go out to his family. Toby will always be a part of our family at TPD and never forgotten. His short time with us enriched humanity as well as our great agency. He will be missed.

    TPD Family

Our hearts and prayers go out to Toby's family. He will be missed.

There was a tremendous outpouring of support for Toby from law enforcement all over the Tampa Bay area. Thanks to the brotherhood for sticking by his side.

For those of you reading this who don't know about Toby, he was a Tampa Police officer diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's Disease last year at the age of 39. Fundraisers were held and he received a visit from President George W. Bush. He also received a lot of press coverage while going through this battle.

Links to news stories about Toby, along with photos and videos, are below. The FOP has been notified and funeral arrangements will be posted on the TPD Message Board.

    Toby

For those who never had the honor of working with Ofc Toby Obrien, you miss out.

He was a great friend and Officer. He will be missed.

Let us feel relief that he is now at ease and rest sitting at the table with our father in heaven.

Let us all now unite and remember this hero of our hearts.

    I love you Toby!

I worked with Toby at Plant City and was his sgt my last year there. He was so proud of all of you at Tampa PD and especially his squad in Ybor.

I used to tell him the only reason he was a good cop was because I had been a good sgt, but I know that is not the truth.

    HE WAS A COP's COP

Rest in Peace My old friend
