VS.
2.6 LEOS per 1000 citizens
3 districts
20 year retirement
One focuses on more brass with less front line workers doing the job for 3 decades.
The other focuses on less brass, more front line workers, and early retirement.
Which agencies lose Leo’s to the other? Coincidence?
The ratio between how much brass an agency has vs how many LEOS it has on the front lines compounded with years to retire are the only three factors you need to know in order to determine if an agency is a POS to work for.
For all you that think you want to do this job and are stuck between what agency to apply to. Use that formula. Brass, vs citizen to officer ratio, and years to retire. How many districts will give you an idea.
Working for 20 years fully staffed with a reasonable amount of bosses or 30 years shorthanded for a too heavy bunch of office jockeys suffering from road dementia.
We were short when we started… Blah blah blah. Funny we are never short on brass or anyone other than deputies and essential detectives.

You seem to be pretty good with numbers. Can you provide the amount of manpower we would move to the street if we had few districts? We would still need a sufficient number of squads to cover such a large geographical area. TPD is more populated per square mile so they can get away with less, HCSO can’t.

How is TPD getting away with less? The numbers are clear. 2.6 officers per 1000 citizens for them. 1.2 for us. That’s all that needs to be said. Population means nothing. Only the ratio matters. What TPD does do is make due with less brass. Not less officers. If your theory was correct, TPD would be losing officers to us. Instead this agency has been bleeding deputies, especially to TPD, for decades. 5 districts is absolutely not necessary. They barely staffed the 4 we had. They got rid of the mid shift to staff D5….. and barely make it work. Same amount of deputies on the street, Just more brass. In fact, less on the street. Because off promotions to run D5. I don’t fall for your BS games.
I seen the agency cut the pie in so many different ways. In the end, we know the hot spots and populated areas. Small zones, big zones, it don’t matter how you cut it. What matters is the OFFICER TO CITIZEN RATIO!
We are on the bottom with the rural counties. Yet this county claimed to be the 7th largest in the nation.
You don’t have to be good with numbers to go to the FDLE website and compare our agency staffing numbers to others. Then you will see how “elite” we really are. Mainly how top heavy we are.
Hey! Don’t forget to get those daily’s in. The ones your supervisors should be doing. Because our 5 sets of command need to know what all is going on while planning the Christmas parties. So they can pass it on to their executive staff.
