    Who are we hiring?

    Heard a rumor that they are dropping the 2 year LEO experience requirement for new hires? Good idea, let’s be honest, all that ever did was nearly guarantee we hired nothing but 1) retirees who don’t really want to work or 2) rejects from other agencies. Sure, exceptions exist.

    The old academy sponsorship we used to do made sense and the folks that always stuck around seemed often to be products of it.

    We can’t hire anyone. My district needs to fill half the agent spots and we are doing our third round of interviews, first two we couldn’t get anyone. 39k to start you can go anywhere and make 49k to start heck even the college campus police starts at 45 now.

    So yes we dropped all requirement to hire a body and heartbeat.

    Our pay isn’t going to get better so stop banging your little spoons. Where else can you use department money to eat at Red Lobster with your boss? Free food and leverage for good evaluations via blackmail. This place rocks!

    Hopefully raises will actually materialize. Bc it’s true and will only get worse as more agencies see even more boomers retire.
