    Pay Raises

Election year coming up! So what’s the rumor for raises? All state employees? Just sworn?

Obviously it’s a political football we won’t see until the budget is passed, but has anyone heard legit rumors?

Can’t imagine why we have issues hiring people.

Who knows. Certainly no one around our agency.

If you want to know why DBPR and ABT will always suck… just look at what we REQUEST from the budget. A legislative budget request (LBR) is that the agency wants or thinks it needs. The Governor doesn’t have to include it in his proposal and the legislature never has to make it happen. But, it’s what we think we need.

Example: FDLE states their pay sucks and they need more money and a step program to recruit better cops. See page 50 of this pdf:
    http://floridafiscalportal.state.fl....49&DocType=PDF

ABT says all they need is extra money from the forfeiture fund for training, no explanation of a need for raises, step programs, or any other pay to make this place less of a hell hole. See around page 96 for the forfeiture stuff and above it for the plain same pay without explanations like FDLE.

When I’m a year where essentially EVERY state law enforcement is requesting better pay and incentives to combat the horrible retention… we say we just need training. When the PBA says nearly every request from agencies talks of a need for pay. When FHP is literally on the news talking about it. When the state has a $7 BILLION dollar projected surplus… ABT does nothing. They did ask for better pay to retain our lawyers last year though. Bet that’s back again too.

The only way your pay is going up is if by the grace of God the legislature makes it effective for all employees or for for all LEOs. Our agency doesn’t care now and never will.

Because management including the chief don’t want us. They would be happy as heck with two sworn per district to serve paperwork and do the occasional compliance check

Some offices have been down 75% staffing for a year and we have been fine and no one has missed us; so what is the encentive for them to try and get more money for us

I’d love to know exactly where the breakdown actually occurs. I doubt it’s the chiefs office. Director? Secretary? It’s certainly within DBPR. Every other state LE agency seems to be lobbying for better pay for retention.

You forget. All other agencies law enforcement ties the priority and everyone else without the agency is there to support the law enforcement function. At abt it’s the other way around. Law enforcement is the step child no one wants. They would be happy with two sworn per district to serve paperwork
