If not, then most deputies (except those topped out) will be making more money by working off duty than on duty. And, we'll have deputies taking off as much time as they can (just what we need). Because they will make more money by sleeping through an off duty job, instead of coming to work.

If that were the case, even deputies who use no accrued time, a.k.a. "no pay" status, would still be making more money working off duty than by coming to work. And those topped out would be making almost the same amount to "work" much less.

I told you Chad will take care of us. He knows the additional sacrifices and the significantly increased risks we've taken, and continue to take, by willingly working through a pandemic which has already killed millions.

    NOPE.

The pay increases were published today. The top step gets a 2% (two) raise not a 12% raise, and well below the inflation index.

If you got into law enforcement to get rich you went into the wrong field.

Nobody is trying to get rich, just keep up with inflation, if we can’t keep up with inflation we get poorer. No one got into law enforcement to get poorer either.

Sop up your tears. I didn’t get a raise this year, it’s not guaranteed. There have been many times through the years that no raise was granted. It sounds like you are in the wrong profession buttercup. Grow up and quit blaming the Sheriff.

Raises and pay grade does not matter. This job is not worth the money. Quality of life and mental health is all that matters. You young guns will not see this until this job sucks up all your reserves and then you suffer losses on the home front. Trying to manage personal issues while emotionally drained from this job will teach you very fast what is worth your effort, what is not, and at what cost. For you you young guys, they pay is low enough where you can use this waste of a job to boost your resume and go to a real career. Finish your degrees. If you are almost about to retire and are considering leaving early, do it. Those few years you are wasting now are not worth the few bucks you will get later. For you mid career folks, not sure what to tell you. You will have to take a pay cut, but a job that values the work you do is priceless. I recommend you simplify and downgrade your living situations. It will be worth the peace. They do not care about you. You are an expendable appliance. You have to look out for your well being. We should have never gotten this short handed. This was allowed to happen for money. Less off us they have to pay. They do not care the cost being critically short handed causes. For you guys on patrol, keep this in mind. Your position is used to punish people. Your job is a punishment times 30 years. Think about that.

I was in patrol for thirty years and loved it. Quit classifying it as punishment. Yes, it can be if you are a candy azzz and can’t handle it.
