Here's how it works. They put the azz kissers and those who never worked any substantial Patrol time in all the Monday through Friday, weekends and Holidays off, office jobs. Some have even been promoted in these positions and still end up staying inside. They should have immeadiatly been put out on Patrol for at least 2 years.
You want to make the grunts in Patrol disrupt their lives every 6 months so we become more experienced yet we have 2 Corporals and a Sgt who basically have no real experience supervising a patrol squad at all.
These 3 supervisors will continue to be protected by the current command staff and will end up moving up and take command someday. No experience, no problem. They are just the future Capt K's and R's in the making.
The 6 month shift is nothing but a big F/U to every person on Patrol. Our morale is deep in the toilet more than ever and no one of the 3 give a shyt about it.

They say officers need to rotate shifts so they learn can also experience the other shift. This should hold true for the Lt.'s too. They should rotate them out and one working a midnight shift so they don't forget what it's like to work a midnight shift. They won't be calling a midnight officer at 8:00 or 9:00 am wondering what happened with a call. If one was working on the midnight shift, they wouldn't have to call you and wake you up and would be able to answer the Chief's questions of what happened on the midnight shift before.
