    Where’s My $1,000 Check?

Below is a short version of an article in today’s Herald On Line. Included is some info from an inside source. All L.E. Unions are negotiating issuing $1,000 checks ASAP and to stop the failure to issue checks because of written discipline. Some discipline might cause a few to not get a check?

For the MPD, an interesting issue might be…If you were ROD’ed, let’s say for a year, received no written discipline….do you get a $1,000 check? Might depend on what the language is in the original legislation that describes first responders. Maybe your not a first responder sitting home ROD?

    HERALD/TIMES TALLAHASSEE BUREAU

    TALLAHASSEE:

Florida is paying a private contractor $3.6 million to help issue $1,000 bonus checks bearing the governor’s logo to teachers, principals and first responders.

Two state agencies signed contracts with Fidelity Information Services last month to collect information on police officers, firefighters, paramedics, teachers and principals to determine which ones are eligible for the $1,000 bonuses and send them checks. ( to your home)

If it has all the needed employee information, Fidelity will print the checks and mail them to each recipient by Aug. 9, according to the contract, and it must also create a call center for recipients who have questions about the bonuses.

For the estimated 250,000 first responders who could receive checks, the state has had to negotiate with unions over who would be eligible.

The Fidelity contract states that written reprimands, suspensions, dismissals and demotions disqualify someone from receiving the bonus.

My inside source provided the following: All First Responder Unions are negotiating that certain “low level” written discipline will be exempt. However, Suspensions, dismissals and demotions look they might be tough to overlook. Also body camera and racist discipline violations are being discussed as a reason to refuse certain violators a $1,000 check?

So it looks like in August the majority of MPD PO’s up to Chief will get a $1,000 check.

To answer your question, been rod is technically a suspension so you will not be to get a check according to their rules . Anyways the whole thing doesn't make any sense you could have been the best cop up there for 11 months then you get a reprimand for anything and you are not allowed to get the money or how about if you retired 9 months into the year , so you are actually punishing people for doing this difficult job and if you are a cop sitting in a desk for a whole year then you get the money , we are living difficult times in this profession is not worth it anymore

A rip, causing you not to get these funds, is BS. So your punished twice? They are releasing our personal information, to a private company. Your all O'k with that? Will this money be included in the contract as a way for the city to say hey, you got a bonus, so don't expect to much coming from us.

Exactly, nothing makes sense anymore, up is down, down is up . What if a hacker gets a hold of all that information and place that
in the dark web .How secure is a private company dealing with private information. why is the flop not even saying anything . why an officer that worked for eleven months risking his life and on the last month he gets a reprimand for a car crash and he won't get that money but someone that works in a station office gets that money . will that money be tax .

Yes, it will be taxed, there is no free money. The reason no one is asking questions is, all they see are $$$. Private companies get hacked, more then we know about. As far as not getting anything because of a rip. Money is used for control. Those that say shut up and take it are a prime example of it. If they are going to put restriction on issuing it, then it should be for those that work out in the public, not the ones that sit in a office and only thing they have to worry about is a papercut. Supervisors write rips, yes some are justified, most is because they were told to by someone above them or to avoid, getting there supervisor telling them to do you job or else.
