Not understaffed. Just mismanaged. Too many people in useless positions. Look at the screen, a million units working Tuesday at noon then look on a Saturday at 8pm and maybe 10? How about we just put everyone back on road patrol for a month and then see exactly what specialty units we need.

Not only is FMPD understaffed and mismanaged, it is way too top heavy and way too many specialty units. It has always been that way and always will. Not a huge agency, but 2 Deputy Chiefs and a Traffic Unit that does not work crashes. List goes on and on.

So a full time marine guy to sit in a small stretch of River? How about we just train a handful of people on the boat and throw him back on the road. A bike unit that we really on need a few nights a week for a few hours? That’s 5 spots back to the road and then just send a few select units to work closing. Cpcs that really only do cpcs work half the time? Pick the best 3 and make them citywide cpcs send the rest to the road. There I just created a whole shift for you.

I agree there are some BULL SH!T specialty units, forget about the brass, that's a whole different problem. But WIKIPEDIA has our current population at 87,000 🤣🤣🤣 try at least 117,000 and that doesn't include daytime business and commuters which has the city swell to 300,000 ppl during business and entertainment hours. All the new construction, in the south zones...this city should be a 250-300 man department easily.👮*♂️👮*♀️

He/she is not crying, understaffed is understatement or you dont see how Alpha shift with 7 officers in the road. Thats not even safe at all. Officers going to calls by themselves and the command staff asking fir predpol , stratified and all that stuff. Agencies out there getting good with technology, making the department more efficient and there is us out here driving through boxes and doing extra patrols thinking thats gonna stop the murders or some of the stuff thats going around. This is not about complaining, is about reality.

Right on the money!!! MIAMI BEACH POLICE is a 400 man department and patrols 16-square miles and has a population of 90,000 ppl. We see what they see...our population is easily now at least 117,000 ppl we don't need a new station right now.. we need more ppl...and minimum staffing should be written into the PBA contract...NO more brothers in blue at FMPD killed in the line of duty.
