The gray police polos before the current ones sucked ass too. I actually prefer these.

Yes a simple black dri fit poli shirt with a badge embroidered on the chest and pen pockets on the sleeve would work best. Most police agency investigating units have this style.

Everyone was just issued a blue and black shirt exactly like that, no patches. You would be a complete moron to wear the pat CB shirt after getting those two.
