    Laundry Project

With the staffing shortages that we are facing as an agency maybe now is not the time to have six Officers out helping people wash their clothing.

How about instead of loading quarters into washing machines, they go out and take some of the calls that are holding ?

Those roller coaster rides, bicycle giveaways and ice cream socials in the hood aren’t going to just happen on their own. Why is it there is only one sector of the city that needs a community engagement unit? When do they plan on getting one for District 1 residents? I don’t see any quarters being dumped into the laundromats on S Macdill, S Dale Mabry or any other neighborhood south of MLK. Pretty sad that the one segment of our society needs to be clothed, fed and coddled by the police (yes, the POLICE) while the other 87 percent seem to just get left in the dust. Talk about singling out and “targeting” one segment of the population! Scroll through the TPD Facebook page and keep scrolling and keep scrolling and just look at who gets all the free candy, ice cream, bicycles, toys and “dog and pony” shows. The same people that “walk for peace” while their offspring slaughter each other nightly on the streets with no consequence.

Just shut your yap and take your 21s and 25s that have been holding for four hours, you can eat when you get home. Nobody cares and remember; that rollercoaster ain’t gonna ride itself!

Very well said. Take your calls one at a time and don’t risk your lives for those 13%. Your life means nothing to them. Collect your paycheck and put as much money as you can into deferred comp. F$&@ all of those scum.

I WAS opposed to this, and other recent uses of sworn manpower until literally just now.

The irony of a racist asshole cop who's too much a coward to say "black" instead of "13%" (even on anonymous forum) complaining about community engagement projects meant in large part to assure black people that cops aren't racist assholes is just too rich.

They're literally having to do it because of you.

Well, cops are human. We are tired of being crapped on because of the bad actions of a few. Do you expect them to vent openly in public? This country is being destroyed in front of our eyes and we can’t do anything about it. We go to the same neighborhoods every day and deal with the same crap, only to be treated as less than human and risk our lives every second the uniform is worn. Yes, we knew what we were signing on for when we took the oath but things have gotten much worse this past year. It’s only going to get worse. Be safe brothers and sisters

    1. You assume that everyone that posts on here is a cop. Anyone with internet access can post to any forum.

    2. Nothing is “racist” about citing facts that the numbers back up.

    3. Glad you’re now on board with the use of sworn officers to drop quarters into washing machines.

I kind of thought the same when I read about the 13% did seem pretty racist.....I also agree that this person is most likely not a cop. Although the black population in Tampa is around 22%. If the OP was a cop they would know that every black person in Tampa does not hate the police. If you go by the rule that 6% of the population commit 70% of the crime then only 6% of the 22% would more than likely be an accurate count of the black population that hate the cops. Go out there and work for the other 94%. Remember what you signed up for and do your job. I would rather the have that squad go to individual people and help them vs having a free for all but because cops (most) dont actually get to know the citizens that live in there area to find such individuals they have to do a all or nothing approach.

That squad has to realize and know that the majority of those coming for the ice cream are there just for the free stuff but much like a teacher, if they can change one mind it is worth it.
