Wow, any reason why?

It was all part of the original contract. They were never outright "donated" to FHP. They were purchased and then loaned to FHP (Colonel Knight) by a wealthy businessman from Broward County. The cars were donated for a set time and when that period expired they reverted back to the businessman.

Interesting arrangement. Have any of them turned up out on the used vehicle market to your knowledge or were they all just salvaged out or destroyed after being returned to the original purchaser ?

They all started getting high mileage and expensive to keep on the road. They were all donated so there were no replacements when they were deadlined.
