Well, not so fast there Gibbons, The Eleventh Judicial Circuit, Appellate Division will hear argument from both you - on behalf of the Papiers and the City of Miami and then render its finding according to the Intent, Letter, Spirit of the Law, and cited governing precedents. It may yet happen the Appellate Division may side with the City's decision to terminate, though we doubt it. This case does not rise to the level of egregiousness required for termination. Demotions to Police Captains, perhaps, suspension without pay for 80 hours or more, possibly, but termination, no. In the end, Acevedo will have to prove his "you lie, you die" case before a truly neutral arbiter who relies on the preponderance of the evidence standard to adjudicate. It may yet come to pass that Acevedo may end up with a brown, fetid film on his face when this case is over.

Still, should the Papiers lose at the Appellate Division, their last recourse will be the Third District Court of Appeal; after that is sayonara!

Let us know seriously without any ill intent , what according to you raises to the level of egregiousness required for termination , if leaving the scene of an accident running several red lights , using high level entrusted position to cover an incident a false police report , is not a termination cause, then what is ,because then that will change the whole system of punishment .officers won't get fired only demoted to others positions in the city

That's the problem they got so used to doing these cover-ups that for them was business as usual. What an embarrassment they were all over the news yesterday again.

Ron why doesn’t you and your wife just admit what you did. This isn’t anyone’s fault but hers and yours. She did a stupid act and you tried to cover it up. Maybe a reprimand for maybe $1,000.00 in damage for a dumb accident. Report it and take the punishment like a lot of folks do here day after day and live with it. Now your gone your next worry should be your pension, your done in the police arena.
