I knew the majority of people trolling this site were disgruntled civilians and now these LENGTHY threads prove it. Let's get the facts straight for the snowflake spoon fed civilians: 1) YOU DONT RISK YOUR LIFE AND PUT IT ON THE LINE EVERY DAY YOU WORK!
2) You have a very good job with an excellent schedule where you don't work holidays like certified. 3) You enjoy the same generous benefit package and vacation sick time off certified does. Over half the geriatric civilians openly say they're only here for the benefits. 4) Almost all of you ALREADY have a step plan. The last two soft worthless sheriffs only cared for and favored civilians.

I couldn't agree more. What are the only positions we always are able to fill? Civilian positions. We can't hire enough cops. So WHY do they get the same benefits? You have to take a physical and psychological test to be a cop. You get randomly drug tested and take a polygraph. Civilians get paid well with the same benefits and no weekends or night shift without all that.

There are many different types of civilian positions and some lower level civilian positions. Some highly complicated positions an LE would never be able to do, just like some civilians would never be able to risk their lives as an LE. You chose your career path whether you are a civilian or an LE. If a scientist, doctor or an attorney comes to work here should they be paid less than an LE simply because they are a civilian? Many positions should have higher pay such as attorneys, technical positions, CFO, etc.

The majority of the civilians in this agency understand the role that they serve. Let's not make it an us vs them thing when we are all on the same side. The agency needs good civilian employees to support LE. Better pay usually means better quality employee, whether LE or civilian.
