The postal service's Internet Covert Operations Program (iCOP) sent bulletins to law enforcement agencies on how to view social media posts that had been deleted, and information derived from scrutinizing posts on uncensored social media platforms.

Since the iCOP was created to keep mail deliverers safe, involvement with Jan. 6 investigations raises questions about how broad the program's mandate has grown.

"Law enforcement-intelligence apparatuses raise serious Constitutional questions, serious questions for our democracy," said Chip Gibbons, the policy director of Defending Rights & Dissent. "It is outside their jurisdiction as I understand it.

"The FBI has jurisdiction over domestic terrorism, whereas the Post Office — I don’t even know how they're involved in this."

• If an FBI agent develops probable cause (PC) on an identified suspect, then it's legal for him to apply for a "keyword search warrant" to identify the Google searches of that person who is listed the warrant.

• It is illegal for FBI agents (or the DOJ) to do "dragnet searches" of a privately owned domain to identify all Americans who perform particular keyword searches. That is in violation of the Fourth Amendment because it involves unreasonable searches and seizures that lack PC for the intrusion.

The FBI and the DOG are Constitutionally out of control. The fact that it is being done in secret and away from the knowledge of the public needs to be Constitutionally addressed by lawyers and legislators.
