Investigators and officers who misled this investigation and mistreated the victims and witnesses to this deadly crash incident, must be held accountable. Internal Affairs supervisors and investigators deviated from their duties, to conceal and mislead this investigation. Officer Mathis was protected and guided efficiently to avoid questioning and allowed to quietly retire and depart without punishment. CIP definitely discovered and determined malicious intent to cover up by members of the crash investigation unit and internal affairs members. These individuals involved must be Relieved of duty and face termination just as commander Papier for her crash cover up. Chief Acevedo you must act against corruption, and these members must vacate our department immediately. We have no space for corrupt individuals in this professional organization.

I agree totally! Start with the IA Major at the time Jesus IBalmea who was Colina cover up man and the female Sgt that even her Lt husband worked the detail.

There was definitely a major cover up involving top staff members of the internal Affairs office and Chief Colina was definitely aware of wrongdoing by his members. Chief did nothing to correct the intentional deficiencies committed by them. Chief did nothing for the family of the motorcyclist who was murdered by their intentional prohibited actions. These individuals shall pay for their actions. You have commander Papier who’s had a remarkable career here and now for lesser performance is fighting for her job. This is wrong and purely unethical. FDLE will definitely look into this. Investigator obstructed by concealing the GoPro camera for weeks and he is still here. Unacceptable!!!!! He must be fired.

Officers are being questioned. The commencement of oral diarrhea has begun. Those who participated in this disgraceful event, pack your bags and resign. It won’t be pretty. You will quickly learn not to trust your coworkers. Always hang alone!

This alleged crash cover up will haunt our city and department for decades. This will be as scandalous as the Miami River Cops saga. Just the idea of allowing for an involved officer to retire without even being questioned as a witness, is clearly atrocious and unethical. Involved members were clearly aware that their collaborated efforts were to disguise the incident and purger the evidence. Supervisors failed their subordinates and facilitated this crash cover up. The department failed to act and accept the thorough investigative efforts of our CIP citizens investigative panel. Numerous news and social outlets are scrutinizing the details of this event. The community is demanding for these Supervisors and investigators involved to be terminated. Chief Acevedo, we love you and please do your job and don’t allow for this crime to go unpunished.

Totally agree with you! Problem is that Colina and Ortiz were involved in the cover up. ORTIZ was the commander involved at the scene involved in the cover up cause he was good friends with Mathis. ORTIZ controlled the narrative with the on scene investigation and Pio. Even after the crash ORTIZ wanted to be informed on everything having to do with the investigation. He even wrote an email to Lt Cruso ordering her to keep him inform on everything involving this case. Don't you find that a little strange for (at the time) a single motorcycle accident fatality that just lost control.on a curve. Don't you find it strange that they refused to say that their were any officers in the area where in fact you had a traffic detail for speeders involving over 19 MPD officers. The department announced that to the media and on tweeter a week before the operation taking place.

Until they don't subpoena phone records and question under oath Mathis this case will not be able to move forward. The feds have to be involved.
