Where to begin. I guess if towers were used someone might have seen it. And maybe if the perimeter deputy position wasn’t used as a dumping ground for lazy deputies they may have actually been patrolling the perimeter road in stead of doing nothing behind PJAC or at Safe Harbor. And G4S, come on. This was an epic failure. And the first person who should be torn up is Colonel “Spineless” Carey. Your ship smart guy, how’d it happen. Maybe someone who isn’t corrections certified and has never worked the floor shouldn’t run the jail. Maybe someone who did minimal police work shouldn’t have been promoted so high, so fast. But I guess when you kiss ass better than anyone you get promoted fast. I predict that a sergeant and lieutenant will get a beat down for this. And maybe a captain will get talked to. In the end a deputy will catch some days off. Even though the jail is understaffed, overworked and run by a moron.

That's why the sheriff gets paid the big bucks and the fame. It's his job to fix the understaffing. If he is not capable or does not care he should step aside and let someone who can do the job take over.

Why are the towers not manned.

The C-tower in question was manned. The deputy in the tower should have used his radio to notify C-control the inmates were coming in from rec. He used the phone in the booth instead. The sight angle from the booth may have prevented him from seeing the SE corner of the C-wing rec yard where the inmate was climbing the wall using the electrical conduit which was attached to the inner rec yard wall (stupid design). That's the story anyway. No good reason for the tower deputy to stop monitoring the rec yard with inmates by going into the booth to use the phone. That's why he was issued a radio to wear on his belt.

The Colonel will take blame for nothing. He and his wife are flawless and untouchable, how dare you. Dont you know its a general order that no promotional memo is allowed to be submitted without a Carey moving up.
