Best Chance to Get a Raise This Contract

Bargaining Unit Members:

We just concluded our second session of bargaining with the County, and once again, Chiefs Jimmy Morales and JD Patterson attended, in addition to the Command staffs from both the Police and Corrections Department including Director Ramirez. Morales and Patterson are both what used to be called Deputy Mayors, and it is important that not one but two of the Mayor's top people attended. It is a sign that the Administration is taking these negotiations seriously.

We made substantive economic proposals today which included raises in each of the three-years of the proposed agreement, retroactive to October 1 of last year.

The property appraiser's values released last week exceeded the County's estimates making us optimistic that we will be able to present a contract worthy of your consideration. While we expected values to increase more, they did not because of construction delays due to COVID-19. When those properties receive their certificates of occupancy this year, it will push property values up even more next year, which is very good news as this is where the majority of the County budget comes from.

We do not have our third session scheduled yet, as the County must now cost out our economic proposals, but as soon as we do have a date, we will let you know.

In the meantime, keep focused on making it home safely to your family at the end of every shift. That is the most important thing!

This sounds like straight chicken shit. Two weeks ago the Mayor and Commissioners passed a "Peace and Prosperity Plan", worth a whopping 90 million dollars. None of you PBA idiots opposed it. If the County has 90 million dollars to pay criminals to obey the law and act civilized, then where the hell is our 7% raise.

We want 7% across the board, and an additional 2% extra to work afternoon and midnight. We haven't had a real raise since the early 90's and 2000's. Meetings are good for nothing if there is no agreement to be fair with the public servants you charge to protect and serve this community.

Why don't the PBA file a lawsuit to stop the "Peace and Prosperity Plan?"

There are hardworking men and women in the brown gown putting their lives on the line daily. We deserve all of that 90 million dollars to be allocated to our budget and raises.

How dare you only ask for 3% on each of the three years proposed. It is not enough in these anti-police times. Also make Court a 5 hour call back!!!!
