And lied about it. Even if you think Sgt. JS should have been fired, at least he didn't lie. Looks like only certain people get fired when they lie.

Highlands Sheriff's Lt. appointed to Educational Practices Board

SEBRING — Highlands County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Chris Gunter has be approved by the State Board of Education to serve on the State Education Practices Commission, which makes rulings on educators facing disciplinary action on their state certification.

Gunter supervises the Sheriff Office’s School Resource Unit, which consists of 23 personnel.

In his letter to the Commission’s Executive Director Gretchen Brantley, Gunter stated he has been a law enforcement officer over 15 years and has held different positions within his law enforcement agencies.

“I understand EPC members are appointed to a four-year term by the State Board of Education and confirmed by the Florida Senate,” he stated. He has reviewed the Florida Statutes that govern the EPC.

“I look forward to the opportunity to review educate discipline cases and comparing facts to law and potentially preparing to take final actions at a state disciplinary hearing.”

The duties and responsibilities of the commission are to interpret and apply the standards of professional practice established by the State Board of Education and revoke or suspend a certificate or take other appropriate action in accordance with State Statutes.

A case concerning a complaint against a teacher is reviewed and a final order entered by a panel composed of five commission members, at least one of whom must be a parent or sworn law enforcement officer and at least three of whom must be teachers.

The current listing of commission members, from which the five-member panels are selected, shows 22 members, not counting Gunter, and with two openings for teachers.

How Long.....has this been going on?

This is what happens when you have a civilian structured para military organization who has no oversight or bearing. Had this happened in the Military, the entire command would've been roasted. Criminal and unethical suspects would've been jammed up 6 ways to Sunday under UCMJ. The top would be removed along with the under brass. A new command would be transferred and any culpability would be shared equally from the existing command. Since all of you are civilians, including the Sheriff who is also a elected civilian, there is and will be no punitive recourse except for the stain and the gossiping bullshit from forums such as this. Hope this doesn't cost the Sheriff his next election. He seems like he is squared away. Hope he hasn't sold his soul to the devil to his big donor constituents, special interests and the local superpac political elite types!

To who? Fansler? He'll be lucky if he keeps his rinky-dink PD. The Sheriff found out about the allegation and quickly took action. Kind of hard to fix a problem you don't know about. He got rid of most of the problem (except for Lt. CS who knew about it and did nothing and Lt. JD (aka Lil Randy) who wrote the letter and therefore knew about it and said nothing).

Fansler is not electable. He has proven himself to be another bigot who uses charm and whit as a means for his shortcomings and bad behaviors.
