If he doesn't separate himself or take action, he's displaying that he's culpable and in cadence with the actions taken. I have the utmost respect for chip! I expect great things from him. I hope he has the fortitude and character i believe he does to get an arms length from even the mere notion of impropriety. Im not saying terminate their employment. Lord knows there is to much of that here! They should not be in trusted positions of leadership if they cannot be trusted or lead. Down the trough!
How many Chiefs, Captains etc. did Sheriff Morgan force to resign? How many temper tantrums did Davey throw because of his ego? The fair, funeral escorts, the jail… the list goes on. Chip had to bide his time or King David would’ve ruined him too.

You're right. Morgan would have ruined him. Morgan had no issue stomping on people and wrecking them. You're absolutely correct. Morgan would have ruined chip had he gotten involved. Chip was there and in said jeopardy if he spoke out. Here is the rub; chip WAS there! He was in the number 2 position. Is that his level of conviction of right and wrong that he allowed such malfeasance to happen? He could have spoken out. He could have tried to stop some of the terrible things that occurred. Yeah, Morgan would have stomped him down as well, chip would have lost, but he could have pit up a fight at least! He was going to be elected sheriff regardless. If Morgan had canned him after he stood up for the right thing, it probably would have bolstered chip even more than he already was. No. He stood by and was complicit. He said and did nothing. He looked out for himself! Sheriff or not, as the chief deputy he had responsibilities and obligations to his subordinates. Few excuses available to those in such a position of leadership.
