Here is how it works in general terms
Application period closes
Apps are reviewed
Some are automatically tossed because they don't meet the qualifications
The apps get reviewed by HR for special qualifiers like veterans preference
Additional review
Those that made it to this point may get a call asking if they are accepting the start salary. If you are thinking you can negotiate a higher salary because you are a retire police chief or SWAT, SRT, EOD,INSTRUCTOR,ODA,PJ,TOP SECRET SQUIRREL forget that now. It's not happening.
Those passing the phone interview get scheduled for a face to face interview with a panel
Part of that process has a written test.
The panel will rank those that pass the written and oral interview
The recommendation goes up the chain
A selection is made
A background is conducted
A conditional offer is made
A start date is given
FTO begins
The whole process takes a couple months.
It is a great job.
Words of advice if you are serious. Show up with a clean set of clothes and put some effort into your appearance. No body is looking for some bearded long hair deep undercover operator. Don't mumble, make eye contact, be polite, be concise and above all be humble. We have enough self absorbed ****y operators and don't need another one.

Can I get two months off before I start FTO?
