Morale is rock bottom at the jail and getting worse, which is indicated by the number of people bailing out. They are also having a big problem getting new recruits because the jail is a horrendous working environment with a bad reputation. The jail's top brass had better get on the ball soon to figure out how to fix these issues. If the jail becomes too much of a headache for Sheriff Bob Gualtieri rest assured heads will roll. Maybe that is the solution because so far nobody seems to be able or willing to even recognize the problems let alone take the steps to solve them.

Their corporal (Nichols) was too busy having sex on duty with two married females in the CRT room when he should have been supervising a bunch of immature newbies on his wing.
Sergeant Smith covered up for Corporal Nichols and even wrote COC memos recommending that he be promoted to Sergeant. The whole scandal unraveled when Nichols turned in his personal phone to IAD with the horseplay and some salacious videos implicating the two married females. Cpl. Nichols was fired and Sgt. Smith was demoted to deputy. Neither one was worth a s**t as supervisors but the administration promoted them over other much better people. You promote garbage you get garbage performance.

He and Halle were dead wood at the jail, the finest examples of RODs. The last Colonel was useless but he had the common sense to bail out. The rest have been empty suit do-boys scared of their own shadows with no vision on how to deal with the staffing issue and low morale.

Getting rid of the toxic brass might present a problem. That would require identifying them based on opinions and maybe facts. Then forcing them to retire or resign. Then we would have to promote people leaving yet another shortage of personnel. Just can’t snapped your fingers and change things. Let’s just start with getting a bonus.
