Jail staffing shortage at breaking point
Mandatory OT and getting worse as more people are planning their exits. Let's see what Carey can do to address the increasing turnover issue. He has taken over the Titanic after it hit the iceberg. Nobody wants to work there. Maybe he is just a caretaker and Bob has a plan.

G4S does not run jails. Anyway Hernando tried privatization but it failed miserably and cost the county a fortune to bring the jail back under the sheriff's office and fix up the damage.
Bob would never give up the jail because he'd lose a big chunk of his budget. They can't find people to work there at the current salary so it would be even worse if the pay was lower.

1.Every sheriff here has taken from DCB to fund patrol, nothing new. 2. Carey is useless, Danzig was probably the best in the last 10 years. 3. I feel bad for everyone that works out there on the floors, under this political climate and the garbage supervision you have out there, wouldn't blame anyone that bailed. 4. When I started 35 years ago it was the best kept secret to work

No wonder Col. McGillen retired so soon after he was put in charge of the jail. He wanted no part of that shlt sandwich because he knew exactly what he was getting.

Two main problems which the administration(s) has ignored for many years:
1. Retention - what must be done to prevent people from leaving, identify problem areas and fix deficiencies.
2. Recruitment - what must be done to get rid of the jail's bad reputation as a lousy place to work in order to attract
new recruits.
We will see if anyone in the administration has the balls and/or the brains to address these problems and take the necessary measures to stop the bleeding.

The cream of the administration's management team should rise to the top during a crisis. Let's see who is up to the task.
Or some will rise to the top like turds in a toilet bowl.
Vastly different results of course.
