Chief Acevedo Blindsided by his MPD Staff

The Ron Pappier's wife accident coverup is a sad ugly event in the MPD history. But this type of event occurs only when you promote people based on friendship and political connections. Chief Acevedo's command staff most of them but not all of them have been promoted based on the "Peter Principle", they are incompetent and have been promoted to their highest level of incompetency.

Mayor Francis Suarez and most commissioners with the exception of Joe Carrollo and Manolo Reyes are to blame. They have politicized the department and corrupted the MPD staff. Francis was Pappier's buddy, even endorsing him during the Chief's first press conference.

Chief Acevedo needs to bring in two of his most trusted former staff members from Houston, one to be his Chief of Staff and the other to oversee the two most politically sensitive sections of MPD, Internal Affairs and the Special Investigations Sections. These two sections are critical to the success of Chief of police, the politicians usually use these two sections to gather dirt on their adversaries.

It is shameful and a national embarrassment that Chief Art Acevedo was BLINDSIDED by his staff.

"It is shameful and a national embarrassment that Chief Art Acevedo was BLINDSIDED by his [SENIOR COMMAND] staff. [YES, IT WAS, BUT BOUND TO HAPPEN.] [/QUOTE]

“Chief Acevedo needs to bring in two of his most trusted former staff members from Houston, one to be his Chief of Staff and the other to oversee the two most politically sensitive sections of MPD, Internal Affairs and the Special Investigations Sections. AGREE! However, there are retired, senior command officers in Dade County, with no connection to the political powers that be or the FOP, knowledgeable of what has been going on at MPD, which could buttress Chief Acevedo’s efforts to cleanse Miami PD. Chief Acevedo should reach out to these senior, retired command officers and extend offers to serve as his deputy and assistant chiefs. The historical awareness, experience, and job knowledge these senior, retired command officers will bring to MPD are incalculable. Doubtless, bringing two of his former most trusted Houston PD former staff members is an option. The question is, will these members resign and abandon their current positions, move their families to Miami and start on a venture that is tenuous at best? We think not! Such move will be as if Chief Acevedo were to launch two infants into Biscayne Bay and ask them to swim to shore.

I agree we need three new staff members from the outside.
    Vacant Flagami Commander
    Vacant Little Havana Commander
    Vacant Deputy Chief

Major IBalmea needs to be demoted reference several Internal Affairs cover ups involving Ortiz and sustained case by the CIP

    El Caballo from WYNWOOD.

It is painful to see what is occurring in our MPD. The corruption runs deep, it is the legacy of several previous Chiefs of Police who were unfit for command and who were never leaders, but were great political prostitutes. Lets start with Jorge Colina, Rudy Llanes, Manny Orosa and Mike Exposito. All of them rose through the ranks by selling themselves to the politicians and they did it well. They promoted their own political prostitutes in order to cover up their misdeeds.

It is painful, the Ronald Pappier saga is only going to get worse, other commanding officers, especially Majors are also going to FALL.

Chief Art Acevedo is a dedicated police officer, might not be perfect, but he is a good man and his heart is in the right place.

GET RID OF ALL OF THE BAD COPS and START AT THE TOP. MPD has many good young officers, sergeants and commanding officers.

Chief your staff must lead by example and from the front. If any of them are in bed with politicians get rid of them because eventually they will backstab you again.

    God bless.
